MPs condemn the "church" crime and affirm that Jordan will remain resilient against all attempts to undermine its security and stability.

MPs denounced and condemned the heinous and tragic crime that took place at the Hamoud Church in Karak Governorate, following a painful shooting incident that claimed innocent, pure lives.

In separate statements on Friday, they affirmed their rejection of all forms of violence targeting the nation's security and stability, stressing that Jordan will remain resilient against all attempts to undermine its security and stability, thanks to the wisdom of its Hashemite leadership, the vigilance of its armed forces and security services, and the awareness and cohesion of its people.

They also emphasized that the values of brotherhood and coexistence will remain deeply rooted in the conscience of Jordanians, and that national unity is the impenetrable fortress against everyone who attempts to harm the nation's security and stability.

They explained that national unity will remain firm and resilient against all attempts to undermine it, stating that Christian brothers in Jordan are original partners in the homeland, and that the unity of destiny that brings Jordanians, Muslims and Christians together, is a firm reality.

They expressed their deepest condolences and sincere sympathy to the victims' families and relatives, and to all Christian brothers, affirming that Jordanians stand by their side in this great affliction and share their pain of loss and grief, asking God Almighty to cover the victims with His vast mercy, to inspire their families and relatives with patience and solace, to grant the injured a speedy recovery, and to heal the affliction of their families.

Furthermore, Assistant Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hala Jarrar, said that this cowardly criminal act is completely contrary to all religious, moral, and human values, and targets our cohesive national fabric and coexistence, which has always been and will remain an impenetrable fortress in the Jordan of Abu Al-Hussein, the cradle of tolerance, love, and brotherhood.

Jarrar added, "While I express my direct and categorical condemnation of the disregard for citizens' lives and the use of weapons and gunfire in holy places and public activities, I extend my sincerest feelings of condolences and sincere sympathy to the families of the victims and innocent martyrs. We pray to God Almighty to accept them with His vast mercy, grant the injured a speedy recovery, and inspire their families and the one Jordanian family with beautiful patience and solace."

For her part, the Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Women and Family Affairs, Faliha Al-Khudeir, affirmed that this criminal act contradicts the values of Jordanian society based on cohesion, brotherhood, and coexistence, stressing that targeting the nation's sons, regardless of their religion or beliefs, represents an attack on all of Jordan, and that Jordanian blood is one, and the affliction affects all Jordanians without exception.

She pointed out that such criminal acts will only increase Jordanians' cohesion and unity, and will not undermine their solid national fabric, affirming that Jordanians stand as one in the face of all attempts to sow discord and destabilize security and stability.

Al-Khudeir extended her deepest condolences and sympathy to the families of the martyrs, and to the members of the Christian community in Karak and various parts of the Kingdom, asking the Almighty to cover the martyrs with His vast mercy, grant the injured a speedy recovery, and inspire their families with patience and solace.

For his part, the Chair of the Parliamentary Media and National Guidance Committee, Hussein Al-Amoush, affirmed his rejection of everything that targets the security of society and the safety of its members.

He said that Jordan will remain a model for coexistence and brotherhood among members of the same society, and that national unity will remain firm and resilient against anyone who attempts to undermine it or harm the nation's security and stability.

He added that national unity will remain firm and resilient against all attempts to undermine it, affirming that Jordan is the homeland of everyone, and that love and brotherhood bring its people together under the banner of one nation.

In turn, the Chair of the Jordanian-Saudi Parliamentary Friendship Committee, MP Abdul Basit Al-Kabariti, affirmed that this heinous crime represents a flagrant attack on religious, human, and moral values, and contradicts the teachings of true Islam and all principles that safeguard human life and dignity.

He stressed that Islam is innocent of these criminal acts and of everyone who hides behind religion to justify violence and attacks on the innocent, saying that what happened reflects a deviant ideology that has nothing to do with Islam, which established the principles of mercy, justice, safeguarding human life, and protecting the rights of non-Muslims.

He also affirmed that an attack on any Jordanian citizen is an attack on all Jordanians, and that the security, dignity, and safety of Christians are an integral part of the nation's security and stability.

He pointed out that the Jordanian people have provided, throughout the history of the state, a firm model of coexistence, brotherhood, and social cohesion, and that the difference in religion has never been a barrier to social and human relations among its people, who have always been brought together by love, respect, land, identity, and a common destiny, and have shared joys, sorrows, and national stances, in an image that embodies the authenticity and cohesion of Jordanian society.

Al-Kabariti valued the historical Hashemite role in building this cohesive national model, consolidating the values of citizenship, moderation, and tolerance, and protecting the social fabric, affirming that the wise Hashemite approach, led by His Majesty King Abdullah II, was and remains the safety valve for the unity and stability of Jordanians.

Al-Kabariti also stressed his complete confidence in the Jordanian security services, affirming that he supports their members in their national efforts to uncover the circumstances of this crime, identify its perpetrators and everyone who stands behind them, incites them, or supports them, bring them to justice to receive their punishment in accordance with the provisions of the law, and take the strictest legal measures against them, in a way that preserves the nation's security and stability and safeguards the lives of its people.

The Chair of the Parliamentary Public Services and Transport Committee, Ayman Al-Badadweh, said, "The forces of darkness and bats of discord refuse to show their rotten heads in desperate attempts to shake the edifice of this lofty Hashemite sanctuary, and what the Hamoud Church in Karak witnessed of a treacherous and cowardly targeting represents nothing but a treacherous stab directed at the heart of every Jordanian man and woman, before it was a targeting of a place of worship."

He added that there is no classification of the nation's sons in the dictionaries of Jordanians based on sect or denomination, for Christians in this sanctuary are the nerve of history, the pillars of the land, partners in the revolution, builders of the state, and protectors of the identity.

He explained that the attack on a church in Karak or in any inch of our dear Jordan is a direct aggression against all our mosques, villages, and tribes, and the blood of a Jordanian is equal to his blood, land, and honor, and we must stand as one man.

He affirmed that we renew the pledge and loyalty to the nation's banner, and we declare our absolute confidence in the knights of truth in our security services and our valiant armed forces; the watchful eyes of the nation that we have known as a sharp sword in the face of anyone who allows themselves to tamper with the tranquility of the secure. The hand of law and justice will reach the criminals wherever they hide, and the advocates of terrorism and takfir will find nothing in the soil of Jordan but firmness and an iron fist.

Al-Badadweh expressed his rejection of any regional or external attempts to sow poison and exploit the religious card to undermine the solidity of our societies. Political grandstanding and attempts aimed at employing the identity of the Levant and its Christians to serve fragmentation projects are illusions that shatter against the rock of our people's awareness, and the first and last resort remains the results of field investigations and the facts on the ground that cut off the roots of rumors.

He indicated that Jordan, under the leadership of His Majesty the King, will remain a global model for harmony and a haven for dignity and true citizenship. This Hashemite legacy in caring for holy sites and safeguarding human dignity is firm and unyielding in the face of the storms of extremism and terrorism, and this was proven by our master's speech years ago in the United States regarding the protection of churches against hatred of religions.

For her part, MP Arwa Al-Hajaya said that what the village of Hamoud witnessed today of a crime that bled hearts and pained consciences is not just a normal criminal act, but a flagrant attack on the sanctity of the human soul, a stab in the values of religion, morality, and humanity, and an act that no law approves, no mind accepts, and no person of sound nature is satisfied with.

She added that Islam, which came as a mercy to the worlds, cannot be a cover for killing, nor a pretext for aggression, nor a veil behind which those with sinful souls hide. God Almighty says: ﴿And do not kill the soul which Allah has forbidden, except by right﴾, and He, the Almighty, says: ﴿Whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done] in the land - it is as if he had slain mankind entirely﴾.

She explained that Islam is innocent of every crime committed in the name of anger, humanity is innocent of every hand that reaches out to a soul without right, and the homeland is greater than the whims of individuals, and too precious to have its tranquility wasted by a stray bullet or a sinful crime.

For his part, the Chair of the Parliamentary Palestine Committee, Suleiman Al-Saud, said that this sinful criminal attack constitutes a direct targeting of Jordan's security and stability, and a desperate attempt to strike its national unity and sow fear and discord among its people.

Al-Saud affirmed that this heinous crime reveals the ugly face of the deviant terrorist ideology that only masters shedding blood, terrorizing the secure, and attacking the sanctity of places of worship, stressing that Islam is innocent of these brutal acts, and of every ideology that violates human life and violates its dignity, for terrorism has no religion, no morals, and no cause that justifies its crimes.

He said that Jordan will remain stronger than these cowards and their illusions, resilient against terrorism and discord, steadfast with its Hashemite leadership, its firm institutions, and its cohesive people, and that attempts to undermine its security will shatter against the solidity of the state and the awareness of Jordanians and their rallying around their homeland.

He added that the hand of justice will reach everyone proven to be involved in this criminal act, for there is no immunity for a terrorist, and no leniency with anyone who attempts to tamper with the Kingdom's security or undermine the unity of its people.

Al-Saoud affirmed that those behind this heinous crime are nothing but a handful of criminals rejected by human values, who have adopted treachery and bloodshed as a means to spread terror and attempt to destabilize Jordan's security and stability.

Al-Saoud stressed that targeting places of worship is an assault on Jordan as a whole, and on the dignity of every Jordanian who believes that the sanctity of blood and holy sites is a red line that must not be crossed. Whoever bets on igniting strife between Muslims and Christians only reveals their moral bankruptcy and failure in the face of the unity of a people who are not divided by places of worship or differences in belief.

Al-Saoud said: The Jordanian state, with its agencies and institutions, will remain an impenetrable dam against every sinful hand, and those involved will face their just punishment under the umbrella of the law. As for the illusions of the terrorists, they will shatter against the solidity of Jordan, and this homeland will remain dear, secure, and resistant to traitors, criminals, and anyone who attempts to undermine its unity and sovereignty.

For his part, MP Tariq Bani Hani said that the crime, which affected the security and stability of Jordanian society, calls for standing firmly against everything that threatens the lives and safety of citizens.

He stated that attacking the lives of innocent people is a crime rejected by all standards and cannot be justified under any circumstances. Furthermore, resorting to violence and weapons does not represent a solution to any dispute, but rather opens doors to pain and loss that have dire consequences.

Bani Hani affirmed his confidence in our security and judicial agencies in dealing with this incident, uncovering its circumstances, and holding those responsible accountable in accordance with the law.

He emphasized that Jordan, for which social cohesion and the rule of law have formed two fundamental pillars of its stability, is in dire need today of prioritizing the voice of reason, exercising self-restraint, rejecting the discourse of hatred and revenge, and not being dragged behind rumors or unconfirmed narratives.

In turn, the National Ummah Party bloc affirmed its absolute rejection of all forms of violence and attacks on innocent lives, stating that the attack constitutes a serious crime that affects the security and stability of the homeland and contradicts religious, human, and moral values.

It stressed the sanctity of places of worship and the necessity of safeguarding them and protecting their visitors, and rejected everything that would undermine national unity and societal peace.

The bloc expressed its confidence in the security agencies and specialized institutions, affirming its support for their efforts to uncover the circumstances of the incident, pursue its perpetrators, and bring them to justice to receive their punishment according to the provisions of the law.

It called on all the people of the homeland, Muslims and Christians, to uphold their national unity, strengthen the values of brotherhood, tolerance, and solidarity, and confront all attempts to incite strife or undermine the national fabric, while emphasizing the necessity of verifying accuracy, obtaining information from its official sources, and not being led by rumors.

The Assistant Speaker of the House of Representatives, Maysoon Al-Qawabah, also affirmed her absolute rejection of everything that threatens the security and stability of the homeland, saying that our Christian brothers in Jordan are the salt of the earth, an integral part of the societal and national fabric, and partners in building the homeland.

She stressed that attempts at strife and destruction will not undermine the unity and brotherhood of Jordanians, affirming her support for the Hashemite leadership and the efforts of the security agencies in performing their duty and preserving the security and stability of the homeland, calling for solidarity and national unity in the face of this painful event.

For his part, the head of the Parliamentary Administrative Committee, Khalifa Al-Diyat, said that this criminal act, if its details are proven according to the results of the official investigation, constitutes an unacceptable assault on the human right to life and security, and a flagrant violation of the religious, human, and national values upon which our Jordanian society is based, known for its cohesion, the solidarity of its people, and its rejection of violence and hatred.

He emphasized the necessity of uncovering the circumstances of this incident, pursuing everyone proven to be involved in it, and imposing the harshest penalties permitted by law on those responsible, while respecting the investigation process and not preempting its results.

Al-Diyat stressed that Jordan's security, stability, and the rule of law are lines that must not be crossed, and that the blood, dignity, and security of Jordanians are a collective national responsibility that requires standing as one in the face of all forms of violence and crime, and adhering to our national unity, which was and will remain the source of the strength and resilience of the Jordanian state.

The Initiative Parliamentary Party bloc affirmed that such unfortunate incidents do not represent the morals or authentic values of Jordanians, and that the Jordanian national fabric will remain resistant to everything that would undermine its unity or sow division among its people, Muslims and Christians, in light of a deep-rooted history of love, brotherhood, and partnership in building the homeland and preserving its achievements.

While the bloc confirms its confidence in the state's institutions and specialized agencies, it stresses the necessity of taking the necessary measures to uncover the circumstances of the incident and hold those responsible accountable in accordance with the provisions of the law, in a way that ensures the achievement of justice, the consolidation of the rule of law, and the protection of citizens' security and peace of mind.

The bloc also called on all the Jordanian people to rally around the wise Hashemite leadership, stand as one in the face of everything that threatens the security and stability of the homeland, exercise the highest degrees of national responsibility, not be dragged behind rumors or circulate unverified news, and leave room for the competent authorities to perform their duty in verifying the facts and announcing them through official channels.

It stressed that Jordan will remain, God willing, a model of national unity and cohesion among its people, and that the strength of our homeland lies in the cohesion of its people, the awareness of its citizens, and their rallying around their leadership and state institutions, no matter how intense the challenges become.

MP Wasfi Haddad affirmed his rejection of this criminal act that targets Jordan's security and national unity, stressing that the unity of Jordanians and the cohesion of their social fabric will remain resistant to attempts at strife.

He said, "Jordan's churches have never been merely silent stones; they are living witnesses to history, where bells have embraced minarets since the dawn of the Levant, and with the faith and sacrifices of their people, they have written the story of a homeland that does not accept division, and whose solidity cannot be undermined by the bats of darkness and the hands of treachery."

He stressed that this extremist and cowardly terrorist act that struck a church in Karak Governorate is not just an aggression against an altar or a place of prayer, but a stray bullet that targeted the heart of all of Jordan; a desperate and cheap attempt to shake the edifice of this sacred national fabric that has been baptized with the blood of our martyrs and the authenticity of our shared life.

He added that we, as Christians in this Levant and this Hashemite Arab sanctuary, are not a passing minority nor are we newcomers to this geography; rather, we are the salt of this earth and the pillars of its history, partners in blood, construction, and the defense of the state's sovereignty, side by side with our Muslim brothers stationed on the soil of this dear homeland.

Haddad affirmed that the wound of Karak is a wound for every free Jordanian in Ajloun, Amman, Irbid, the Badia, and the South, and an attack on any church is a violation of the sanctity of all our mosques and homes. Attempts to sow fear and division will inevitably shatter against our firm belief in the unity of this people and their shared destiny.

Haddad announced his absolute confidence in the Knights of Truth, the lions of our valiant armed forces, and our triumphant security agencies, and we demand the pursuit of the remnants of extremism and the accountability of everyone who planned, incited, or executed this sinful act by striking with an iron fist to cut off the roots of terrorism and preserve the dignity and security of citizens.

He categorically rejected any external attempts or hired voices seeking to exploit this criminal incident or trade on the authentic Christian presence to serve agendas of strife and fragmentation; for Jordanians are the protectors of their home, and their awareness is sufficient to defeat all losing bets.

Haddad said our only and firm compass will remain the Holy of Holies, and our holy sites which we protect with our souls and lives. We renew our pledge to stand as one as Jordanians of all backgrounds and origins behind our wise Hashemite leadership, led by His Majesty King Abdullah II, and his supporter, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al-Hussein bin Abdullah; so that Jordan may remain the most beautiful global oasis for shared living, the care of holy sites, and human dignity, and an impenetrable fortress that cannot be softened by the storms of ignorance and extremism.

The head of the Parliamentary Agriculture and Water Committee, Ahmed Shdeifat, said that this heinous crime completely contradicts the values of our true religion, the morals of our great Jordanian people, and the nature of our cohesive society.

He added that this cowardly criminal act does not target a specific group, but targets the entire homeland, and attempts to undermine our national fabric and the historical brotherhood in which Jordanians—Muslims and Christians—have set the most wonderful examples throughout the ages; this harmony whose roots have been established since the Islamic conquest and the immortal historical stance of the Commander of the Faithful, Omar ibn al-Khattab, may God be pleased with him, upon his entry into Jerusalem and his establishment of the rules of the Umariyya Covenant, to be a beacon for freedom of worship, the protection of holy sites, human brotherhood, and shared living.

Shdeifat affirmed that the danger of terrorism and hateful extremist ideology is not limited to targeting innocent lives alone, but seeks in vain to undermine the foundations of societal peace and sow division among the people of the same homeland.

He stressed that we will not allow hatred to find a foothold among us, for the awareness of Jordanians and the solidity of their internal front have always been the rock upon which all plans of darkness and extremism shatter, and Jordan will remain a unique model of moderation, shared living, and the rejection of all forms of extremism and violence.

Shdeifat called on the people of our precious homeland to be cautious and wary of those who incite strife and to confront rumors, expressing our absolute confidence in our valiant security agencies and our Mustafa-led armed forces in preserving Jordan's security and stability and cutting off the roots of anyone who attempts to undermine it.

MP Mohammed Kataw said, addressing our Christian brothers in Jordan and all our Jordanian people, "We are the children of one homeland, and what befalls any Jordanian home is a pain for all Jordanians, and what affects the security and dignity of any citizen affects us all."

He added that Jordanians, of all sects, have lived as brothers and partners in this homeland, sharing its joys and sorrows, and standing together in various circumstances, united by the bonds of brotherhood, love, and the unity of blood and destiny.

He continued, "Today, we say it to the whole world: we Jordanians stand by each other, brothers in blood and destiny, holding fast to our national unity, and confident in our state's competent institutions and their ability to uncover the circumstances of what happened and hold accountable everyone proven to be involved in this assault."

Kataw emphasized that our strength was and will remain in our unity, in our respect for one another, and in our firm belief that we are partners in land and destiny, and that our national fabric will remain resilient against everything that targets our security and cohesion.

The head of the Parliamentary Environment and Climate Committee, Jihad Abboudi, said that targeting houses of worship is a rejected act that contradicts the teachings of heavenly religions and human values, and aims to undermine Jordan's security and national unity.

Abboudi affirmed that all Jordanians form a single national fabric, and that attempts to sow discord and destabilize will not affect the unity and cohesion of Jordanian society.

He stressed standing behind the Hashemite leadership led by His Majesty the King, and supporting the efforts of the security services and the Jordanian Armed Forces - the Arab Army in protecting the homeland, safeguarding its security and stability, and confronting everything that would harm the safety of citizens.

Abboudi pointed out that Jordan will remain a firm model of coexistence and fraternity between Muslims and Christians, and that the values of tolerance, love, and national unity will remain resilient against attempts at sedition and treachery.

In turn, the head of the National Charter Parliamentary Bloc, Ali Al-Khalayleh, affirmed that targeting the innocent and violating the sanctity of houses of worship constitute a crime that requires holding its perpetrators accountable in accordance with the provisions of the law.

Al-Khalayleh emphasized that the tragedy of Karak is the tragedy of all Jordanians, and that the unity of Jordanians, Muslims and Christians, is firm and solid, and cannot be affected by attempts to sow division or incite sedition, stressing that the blood of Jordanians and the sanctity of houses of worship are a red line that must not be crossed.

He called for rallying around the Hashemite leadership, supporting the Jordanian Armed Forces and security services in their efforts to preserve the security and stability of the homeland, relying on official sources for information, and rejecting rumors and all forms of incitement.
