The Ministry of Investment has launched the pre-qualification invitation for the Mujib pumped-storage hydroelectricity project.
The project will be implemented through the Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT) system, in accordance with the public-private partnership model.
The project aims to develop, finance, design, construct, own, operate, and maintain a pumped-storage hydroelectric facility with a capacity of 450 megawatts.
The project will be constructed adjacent to the Mujib Dam and will provide electrical energy storage capacity for seven hours at full load operation by storing surplus electricity, particularly that generated from solar energy during daylight hours, and pumping it back into the grid during periods of peak demand.
The project contributes to enhancing the flexibility of the electrical system, increasing the integration of renewable energy, improving energy security, and reducing reliance on imported fuel.
