"Martyrs of Hammoud Church" street named in Petra

The Chief Commissioner of the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA), Engineer Adnan Al-Sawa'ir, revealed the Authority's intention to name one of the streets in the Rose City "Martyrs of Hammoud Church," to commemorate their memory and affirm the values of national unity, brotherhood, and tolerance among the Jordanian people.

This came during a solidarity vigil held in front of the Authority's building, following the heinous attack that targeted Saint George's Church, as an expression of solidarity and an affirmation of national unity and support for the Hashemite leadership and its efforts to protect Jordan's security and stability.

Al-Sawa'ir stated that this initiative comes as an affirmation of Jordan's firm position in consolidating the values of national unity and brotherhood among members of society, and preserving the national fabric, which constitutes a fundamental pillar in maintaining the security and stability of the homeland.

He added that Jordan, under its Hashemite leadership, provides a model of brotherhood and coexistence, stressing that maintaining the security and stability of the homeland is a shared responsibility that requires strengthening the values of love, tolerance, and solidarity among all members of Jordanian society.

He emphasized that the attack on houses of worship represents an assault on human values and the principles of tolerance, and that such acts will not undermine the unity and cohesion of Jordanians, but will rather strengthen their adherence to their national constants and authentic values.

Al-Sawa'ir pointed out that Petra, with the cultural and human heritage it represents, embodies the values of tolerance, openness, and coexistence, stressing the importance of consolidating and promoting these values in a way that contributes to safeguarding the unity, security, and stability of Jordanian society.

Authority employees saluted the efforts of the security services in apprehending the criminals, stressing that this painful incident will not affect the unity of Jordanians and will only increase their commitment to their homeland and their rallying around its victorious Hashemite banner.
