The Ministry of Health said that a limited technical incident occurred in the medical waste sterilization device at the new Salt/Hussein Hospital, on floor (B6), on Tuesday morning.
The Ministry explained that the incident occurred while the device was operating, and its effects were limited to minor material damage represented by the falling of parts of the false ceiling and an adjacent wall, without any injuries being recorded.
According to the initial investigation, the incident was due to a technical fault in the water temperature regulator that led to an increase in temperature and pressure inside the device, causing a mechanical technical incident.
At the direction of the Minister of Health, a team was formed consisting of the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Health, the Administration of Services, and the Directorate of Medical Engineering, who were present at the accident site from the moment it occurred to monitor the situation and the measures taken, noting that the device is monitored by an operation and sustainability company that is also present at the site.
The Ministry confirmed that the incident did not affect the safety of patients or the staff working in the hospital or the provision of health services to citizens, and its effects were limited to material damage.
