Launch of the sixth phase of ((Nashama for Political Empowerment))

The Youth Leadership Preparation Center at the Ministry of Youth launched, yesterday Wednesday, the activities of the sixth training phase of the "Nashama - Fourth Cohort" program, entitled "Political Empowerment", at the Amman Youth House, with the participation of 29 young men and women representing various governorates of the Kingdom.

The sixth phase falls within an integrated training path aimed at enhancing Jordanian youth's awareness of the political modernization paths and the legislations governing public life, empowering them with the tools of participation and influence, and linking theoretical knowledge with practical application.

The activities opened with the political modernization axis, which reviewed the most prominent milestones of the reform path, the Royal Discussion Papers, the work and outputs of the Royal Committee to Modernize the Political System, and the 2022 constitutional amendments, leading to the path of transition towards partisan parliamentary governments, and the role of the Independent Election Commission in the political modernization system.

The first day witnessed a workshop entitled "Opportunities and Challenges of Political Modernization from a Youth Perspective," which discussed the reality of youth participation and the opportunities and challenges associated with the role of youth in the political modernization path.

The phase will continue over the coming days through axes addressing the legislations governing political participation, local administration and decentralization, and the participation of Jordanian youth in political life.

The legislation axis focuses on the election law and political parties law, the most prominent provisions related to political participation, running for office, lists, and partisan representation, along with an applied reading of the 2024 elections experience, and a practical simulation emulating the formation of a partisan list.

The local administration and decentralization axis addresses the concept of local administration and its development in Jordan, the formation of municipal and governorate councils and their powers, as well as a simulation of a municipal council, local community priorities, the budget, and the role of youth in local accountability and participation.

The phase concludes with the youth participation in political life axis, by discussing opportunities, challenges, influence and participation tools—foremost among which are advocacy, youth initiatives, and digital media—along with preparing plans for youth initiatives and presenting their outputs and recommendations.

The "Nashama" program comes within the efforts of the Ministry of Youth, represented by the Youth Leadership Preparation Center, to build youth capacities and qualify them to assume active leadership and societal roles, through a training path that combines knowledge and application, develops skills in dialogue, leadership, initiative-making, and participation in public life, thus contributing to preparing a generation of youth capable of making a positive and sustainable impact in their communities.
