Launch of the Second Vocational and Career Guidance Forum at "Tafila Technical"

Delegated by the Minister of Labor, Assistant Secretary-General of the Ministry of Labor Ibrahim Al-Saket inaugurated today the activities of the Second Vocational and Career Guidance Forum in Tafila Governorate, hosted by Tafila Technical University, in the presence of the University President, Prof. Dr. Hassan Mohammed Al-Shalabi.

The forum was attended by the University Vice President for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Abdel-Ilah Al-Shabataat, Director of the Tafila Labor Directorate Othman Al-Masri, alongside representatives from government institutions and the private sector, as well as a number of specialists, interested parties, academic and administrative staff, and students.

Al-Saket highlighted the importance of vocational and career guidance in helping youth discover their abilities and inclinations, determine their future choices, and make informed decisions regarding their career paths. He noted the role played by the Ministry in developing guidance services and expanding partnerships with universities and the private sector to align education and training outcomes with the needs of the Jordanian labor market and increase employment opportunities.

He added that vocational forums serve as an interactive platform for direct communication between students and employment and training entities, and for learning about the skills required for modern and future professions, thereby enhancing the readiness of youth to transition with confidence and efficiency from the classroom to a productive work environment.

For his part, Al-Shalabi emphasized the importance of hosting the forum in strengthening the role of universities in vocational guidance and counseling, linking academic knowledge with practical field application, and broadening students' horizons to identify opportunities available in the labor market.

He pointed to the university's keenness to support initiatives that contribute to empowering youth and developing their skills in line with the evolving requirements of the labor market and economic and technological shifts, stressing the need for complementary roles between higher education institutions, the Ministry of Labor, and the private sector in preparing qualified national cadres.

The event included interactive activities to introduce students to the mechanisms of preparing a resume, effectively preparing for job interviews, and learning about entrepreneurship and freelance programs, in addition to providing opportunities for direct communication with institutions supporting employment.

At the conclusion of the activities, the visiting delegation conducted a field tour of the university's facilities to observe the engineering and applied educational environment that contributes to honing students' skills and preparing them for the labor market.
