The King Hussein Cancer Foundation has launched an awareness campaign titled "Healthy Environment Against Cancer", aiming to raise community awareness of the importance of preserving the environment and emphasizing that environmental pollution directly affects health. The campaign messages focus on the importance of combating smoking in all its forms and reducing air pollution, which increase the incidence of cancer.
The launch of the campaign coincides with World Environmental Health Day, which falls on September 26.
Scientific research indicates a relationship between environmental conservation and cancer prevention, as smoking is responsible for 80% of lung cancer cases, and air pollution is linked to 36% of lung cancer deaths.
The campaign, announced on the Foundation's social media, carries the hashtag #HealthyEnvironmentAgainstCancer, and its messages emphasize the importance of taking steps to reduce environmental pollution, planting trees, and combating smoking in all its forms.
The campaign is supported by Cairo Amman Bank, in partnership with the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Health, and includes awareness activities in various regions of the Kingdom to promote positive environmental and health behaviors among individuals and institutions.
