Jordan welcomes UN Security Council statement condemning Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia

Jordan welcomed today the presidential statement issued by the Security Council, which condemned the terrorist Houthi militia's attacks on Saudi Arabia, including attacks on civilians, civilian objects, airports, and energy infrastructure, as well as ongoing threats to the security and safety of maritime navigation in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandeb.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates emphasized the importance of the statement, which stressed the need for the full implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2216 of 2015 and other relevant subsequent resolutions, and called for enhancing international cooperation to prevent the Houthi militia from acquiring weapons and other forms of support.

The Ministry reiterated Jordan's condemnation of the Houthi militia's attacks on the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, considering them a flagrant violation of its sovereignty, a threat to its security and stability, and a blatant breach of international law and the UN Charter.

The Ministry also reaffirmed Jordan's absolute solidarity with the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, standing by it and supporting all steps it takes to protect its security, sovereignty, stability, resources, and the safety of its citizens and residents.
