The President of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce and First Vice-President of the Franco-Arab Chamber of Commerce, Senator Khalil Al-Hajj Tawfiq, affirmed that the Jordanian-European Investment Conference represents a priority for the Jordanian private sector and a major milestone in turning the Kingdom's international relations into tangible investments, partnerships, and economic projects.
Al-Hajj Tawfiq stated that the Jordan Chamber of Commerce will harness its network of relations with chambers of commerce and private sector institutions in European countries to mobilize active economic participation in the conference, scheduled to be held in the Dead Sea region on November 19, under the patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah II.
This came during Al-Hajj Tawfiq's participation in the meetings of the Board of Directors and the Executive Bureau of the Franco-Arab Chamber of Commerce in Paris, where he extended an invitation to the French business community to participate in the conference and directly view the projects and investment opportunities that the Kingdom will showcase.
He pointed to a number of major national projects that could constitute broad areas of cooperation with European companies and investors, foremost among them the National Conveyor project, railway projects, the Qumra city project, alongside opportunities available in the infrastructure, energy, transport, logistics, tourism, and technology sectors.
He explained that these projects reflect the scale of transformation the Kingdom seeks to achieve within the Economic Modernization Vision, and open the door for long-term partnerships between European companies and the public and private sectors in Jordan.
He indicated that the economic value of these projects is not limited to their investment volume, but extends to their ability to stimulate numerous sectors, create job opportunities, transfer technology and expertise, and build alliances between Jordanian and European companies to execute projects inside the Kingdom and launch from there towards regional markets.
Al-Hajj Tawfiq said that Jordan offers the investor not only an economic opportunity, but an integrated ecosystem combining security, stability, strategic location, qualified human resources, and civilizational and touristic heritage.
He added: "Hearing about Jordan from afar is not like seeing it on the ground. Come and see the opportunities, meet the partners, and discover Jordan; the country that combines security, beauty, ancient history, and promising opportunities."
He stressed the importance of French presence at the conference, given France's economic standing and the extensive expertise its companies possess in the sectors of water, energy, transport, railways, infrastructure, technology, and services.
He expressed the Jordan Chamber of Commerce's aspiration to build upon the distinguished Jordanian-French relations to expand the base of joint investments and connect companies and business owners in the two countries with practical, actionable opportunities.
For their part, the members of the Board of Directors and the Executive Bureau of the Franco-Arab Chamber of Commerce welcomed the invitation to participate in the conference and the projects and investment opportunities presented by Al-Hajj Tawfiq, affirming Jordan's importance, its strategic location, the security and stability it enjoys, and its role as a connecting link between regional and international markets.
Al-Hajj Tawfiq pointed out that the evaluation of the Jordanian market should not be based solely on its domestic size, but on the strategic value of the Kingdom's location, the network of free trade agreements linking it with the European Union, the United States, Arab countries, Canada, Singapore, and Britain, and what these agreements provide in terms of access to vast markets.
He noted that the economic transformations witnessing the region, and future opportunities associated with development and reconstruction projects, enhance Jordan's ability to be a base for European companies wishing to access regional markets, benefiting from the Jordanian private sector's expertise, relations, and knowledge of its business environment.
He affirmed that the participation of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce in the meetings of the Franco-Arab Chamber of Commerce comes within an ongoing approach to employ the chamber's membership in Arab-foreign economic institutions to serve the national economy, introduce investment opportunities, and open direct channels of communication between Jordanian business owners and their counterparts abroad.
Al-Hajj Tawfiq concluded by saying: "The success of the conference is not measured only by the number of participants, but by the investments, contracts, partnerships, and actionable projects resulting from it. We want to turn attention toward Jordan into investments, opportunities into projects, and the distinguished relations built by His Majesty the King with the countries of the world into real partnerships that achieve growth and provide job opportunities.
