Jordan Chairs the Arab Labour Conference Held in Cairo

Jordan is chairing the 52nd session of the Arab Labour Conference, organized by the Arab Labour Organization in Cairo from September 13 to 20, 2026, with the participation of representatives from the three production parties from 21 Arab countries.

The Jordanian delegation at the conference, which is held under the patronage of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, is headed by the Minister of Transport and Minister of Labour, Dr. Nidal Katamine, in the presence of ministers of labour, heads of delegations, representatives of employers and workers, alongside representatives of Arab, regional, and international organizations and federations.

The conference discusses key files related to the future of work and development in the Arab region, most notably sustainable economic growth, comprehensive and fair social development, the impacts of climate change on the work environment, and ways to enhance occupational safety and health and adapt to climate risks. The conference also explores the prospects of start-ups in light of digital transformation and their role in promoting entrepreneurship and creating new job opportunities.

Furthermore, the conference addresses issues of skills development and aligning them with labour market needs, enhancing employment, and combating unemployment, thereby supporting the formulation of Arab labour policies capable of keeping pace with economic, technological, and social transformations.
