Jerash Governor forms two committees to ban serving hookah in public places and verify the safety of heaters

Jerash Governor, Ahmad Al-Faouri, formed two committees chaired by the Assistant Governor for Public Safety Affairs to follow up on the ban on serving hookah in public places and to ensure the safety of heaters offered for sale in the markets and their compliance with public safety requirements.

Al-Faouri stated that the formation of the two committees came based on the directives of the Minister of Interior, explaining that the first committee will undertake continuous inspection tours to ensure that hookah is not brought into parks and public facilities, and to enforce legal penalties against establishments that provide tobacco products to those under 18 years of age.

He added that the committee will carry out field tours of public sites, parks, and establishments to ensure that hookah is not served inside them and to prevent smoking in places where smoking is prohibited.

Al-Faouri indicated that the second committee will carry out inspection tours of shops specializing in the sale of heaters to ensure their safety and compliance with public safety requirements.

He pointed out that the committee will intensify monitoring and inspection measures on shops and markets that sell heating appliances to verify that they meet safety and security requirements, which contributes to reducing accidents and risks during the winter season.
