Meteorology warns of flash floods and thunderstorms as atmospheric instability continues

The Jordan Meteorological Department has warned of the risk of flash floods forming in valleys and low-lying areas, including Aqaba and the Dead Sea, as the Kingdom continues to be affected by atmospheric instability on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Director of the Meteorological Department, Raed Rafed Al-Khattab, said that the weather condition is accompanied by scattered rain showers, which may be heavy at times and accompanied by lightning, thunder, and hail. Westerly to northwesterly winds will also be active at intervals and may stir up dust before the rain falls, leading to reduced horizontal visibility, especially in desert areas.

Al-Khattab added that temperatures will drop slightly on Wednesday, with chances of rain remaining in various parts of the Kingdom, while the weather will be pleasant on Thursday and Friday in most regions, and moderate in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba. The chance remains for limited rain showers in the north of the Kingdom on Thursday night and early Friday morning.

The Meteorological Department called on citizens to stay away from valleys and low-lying areas, to exercise caution while driving, and to be aware of the risk of slipping on roads experiencing rainfall.
