The President of the Irbid Camp Services Committee, Mahmoud Al-Fawwaz, confirmed that the committee has been working over the past period to implement a package of service and development projects and programs, aiming to improve the level of services provided to the camp residents and address issues that affect their daily lives.
Al-Fawwaz emphasized that the committee is working to strengthen the partnership between the camp services and official, municipal, and supporting institutions and local associations in the coming phase, which contributes to completing the processing of service files, opening wider horizons for young people in the fields of training and employment, and improving the level of services and infrastructure in various areas of the camp.
Al-Fawwaz explained that the lighting file witnessed a tangible leap after the installation of 1,092 lighting units that covered various entrances and streets in cooperation with the Greater Irbid Municipality, which contributed to enhancing public safety. In the environmental aspect, 400 plastic waste containers with a capacity of 120 liters were distributed, along with the implementation of periodic cleanliness campaigns, the most prominent of which was an extensive campaign that resulted in the removal of about 120 tons of documented waste at the municipal landfill.
Regarding community empowerment and training, Al-Fawwaz pointed to the efforts of the "Hudaiah for Community Development" institution, which has benefited since its operational launch in 2019 more than 3,100 direct beneficiaries within four main tracks.
He explained that the supportive education and academic support track provided services to 1,470 students through programs supporting high school and remedial education, following up on orphans and low-income families, and caring for the outstanding. In the field of vocational rehabilitation and economic empowerment, 364 people benefited from specialized courses in digital skills, marketing, programming, and accounting, where 106 graduates succeeded in joining the labor market at a rate of about 29%.
He added that the institution's digital empowerment programs included 602 beneficiaries, while 750 people benefited from awareness programs, community capacity building, life skills, and home economics.
In this context, Al-Fawwaz pointed out that the Al-Farouk Association and the Hudaiah Center have specialized programs in training and employment that contributed to achieving about 300 training and employment opportunities, noting that the Al-Farouk Association alone trained about 600 young men and women and employed 109 people through its programs, which confirms the importance of continuing to support these programs and expanding their scope to provide real job opportunities for the children of the camp.
He also noted that the Irbid Camp Services Committee organized a job day about a month ago, which resulted in providing job opportunities for about 55 young people from the camp.
