Seasonal influenza is a highly contagious viral disease that affects the respiratory system, and the Ministry of Health recommends taking the seasonal influenza vaccine at the beginning of each winter season, especially for groups most at risk of complications, including those with chronic diseases such as asthma, diabetes, heart disease, pulmonary obstruction, cancer patients, dialysis patients, pregnant women, the elderly, healthcare workers, immunocompromised patients, thalassemia patients, and children aged 6 months to 5 years.
Data from the Ministry of Health within the report on the implementation of its strategic plan for the years 2023-2025 showed that the Ministry adopted a clear national policy for vaccination against seasonal influenza and established a unified national database for vaccine recipients, while the entire approved quantity of 75,000 doses was dispensed during 2025.
The Ministry of Health's guidelines also state that the seasonal influenza vaccine is given annually to healthcare workers, in one dose.
