The Chairman of the West Irbid Municipality Committee, Mohammad Ali Al-Qudah, stated that the areas of Kafr Yuba and Sum are preparing to begin implementing a wastewater project at the beginning of next October, at a cost of approximately $27 million with international funding, and with an implementation period of two years. He pointed out that the project will work on developing the infrastructure, environmental, and service reality in the area.
Al-Qudah explained that the volume of work includes extensive excavations and extensions covering a road network within the municipality's jurisdiction with a total length of approximately 86 linear kilometers.
He added that the municipality places the protection of the road network and infrastructure and the preservation of citizens' interests as a top priority during the implementation phases, stressing the need for full compliance with the approved technical and engineering specifications in excavation and reinstatement works.
Al-Qudah revealed that the municipality is monitoring field and technical preparations in coordination with the entities in charge of the project, the consultant, and the contractor, to ensure the clarity of work paths and minimize the impacts on traffic and essential services.
The Chairman of the Municipality Committee stated that the municipality has asked the contractor to provide a financial guarantee to ensure the proper execution of reinstatement works at 10% of their value, to ensure that the roads are restored to their proper condition rather than merely closing excavations temporarily or not in compliance with standards.
Al-Qudah emphasized the necessity of organizing work sites, maintaining public safety, and removing excavation debris on an ongoing basis. He noted that the municipality will continue its field monitoring to ensure the achievement of the project's developmental goals without harming public facilities or imposing unjustified burdens on citizens.
