Member countries of the International Monetary Fund have called for increased support for nations facing short-term financing challenges resulting from the negative repercussions of wars and rising energy prices.
In a statement issued by the Chair of the International Monetary and Financial Committee following a meeting in Bangkok, the committee stated that economic risks remain tilted to the downside.
The statement issued by Saudi Finance Minister Mohammed Al-Jadaan, Chair of the International Monetary and Financial Committee, read: "Escalating conflicts and trade tensions could further disrupt vital trade routes, exacerbate commodity price pressures, including refined energy products, and lead to a deterioration in food and energy security."
