Ghor Al-Mazraa Municipality Enhances Its Readiness for the Rainy Season and Continues Its Preventive Works to Reduce the Risks of Flash Floods

Ghor Al-Mazraa Municipality continues its field works and early precautionary preparations to deal with the rainy season, by implementing campaigns to clean and open bridges, drainage channels for rainwater and flash floods, and remove dust and debris that may impede the flow of water, which contributes to reducing water accumulation and flash flood risks during the winter.

The field works include treating a number of points and sites that may pose obstacles to the flow of rainwater, in addition to inspecting flash flood channels, bridges, and water drainage sites, and taking the necessary measures to ensure their readiness and ability to absorb rainwater, especially in sites that witness water accumulation during heavy rainfall.

The head of the Ghor Al-Mazraa Municipality Committee, Engineer Hussam Al-Karki, said that the municipality began its preparations for the rainy season early, starting from its responsibility to enhance public safety measures and reduce the effects of weather conditions, pointing out that the works focus on preventive aspects before the start of the rainy season, to ensure raising the level of readiness and response to any emergency.

Al-Karki added that the municipality's cadres and machinery are working in the field to clean bridges, open flash flood channels, remove dust and debris, and treat points that may cause obstruction of water movement, confirming that the municipality continuously monitors various sites within its jurisdiction and works to address the observations first.

He pointed out that the municipality has raised the readiness of its cadres and machinery to deal with emergency cases, and that the work teams will be on alert during periods of rainfall, in coordination with the concerned authorities, to deal with any observations, water accumulations, or effects that may result from weather conditions.

Al-Karki confirmed the continuation of field works in various areas of the municipality, within a plan that aims to enhance preventive readiness and preserve the safety of citizens and their properties, calling on citizens to cooperate with the municipality's cadres and not to throw waste and debris in flash flood channels and bridges, due to its direct impact on impeding the drainage of rainwater and increasing the likelihood of water accumulation.
