Prime Minister Dr. Jafar Hassan issued a communiqué today, Friday, declaring general mourning throughout the Kingdom for a period of three days, effective today, October 23, 2026, during which flags will be flown at half-mast over the buildings of ministries, official departments, institutions, and public bodies; in mourning for the souls of the innocent martyrs who ascended as a result of the brutal and cowardly terrorist attack on the Greek Orthodox Church in the village of Hammoud in Karak Governorate, and as an expression of the grief of all Jordanians and their solidarity in this painful tragedy.
The government expressed its deepest condolences and sympathy to the families and relatives of the martyrs, to our people in Karak Governorate and throughout the Kingdom, praying to God Almighty to cover the martyrs with His vast mercy and pleasure, to grant their families and relatives patience and solace, and to grant the injured a speedy recovery.
