The President of the Association of Fuel Stations Owners, Engineer Nahar Al-Sa'idat, suggested that the demand for diesel will start rising at the end of October and the beginning of November, coinciding with the heating season, while the current demand remains within normal rates.
In a statement to "Al-Rai", Al-Sa'idat explained that the demand for diesel during the current days is within normal levels, while its pace usually increases with the start of the heating season, as citizens' demand for the material increases to meet their needs during the winter season.
He pointed out that the cases in which errors are recorded in dealing with citizens are limited and rare, in light of the supervision of the concerned authorities, primarily the Standards and Metrology Institution and the Energy and Mineral Resources Regulatory Commission.
He explained that the entities dealing with fuel stations in distributing diesel must have the necessary permits and guarantees, calling on citizens to deal with reliable entities and verify that they have the required permits, especially those issued by the Standards and Metrology Institution.
He urged citizens to avoid buying diesel through social media pages and websites, and to verify the supplying entity and the source of the material before completing the purchase, to avoid falling victim to fraud and scams.
Regarding the prices of oil derivatives, Al-Sa'idat called on government entities, with the end of the month approaching and the rise in global oil derivative prices, to consider fixing prices and not raising them, taking into account the circumstances of citizens, especially with the onset of winter and the increase in demand for heating materials; and to avoid raising the prices of goods and services linked to transportation.
Al-Sa'idat confirmed the availability of a safe stock of oil derivatives sufficient for the needs of the Kingdom, in addition to the stock of marketing companies and fuel stations, stressing that the operational situation is stable and reassuring.
For its part, the National Consumer Protection Association warned citizens against buying diesel through social media pages, especially those that assume the names of well-known companies, calling for dealing with reliable and accredited entities and companies.
The President of the Association, Dr. Muhammad Abaydat, called on citizens to verify the source of the material and the supplying entity before purchasing, as well as to check the amount of diesel in the tanks before filling, to avoid any tampering with the quantities.
He also called on official entities and companies operating in the sector to intensify awareness campaigns and clarify the accredited entities and places of sale.
Jordan's annual consumption of various types of fuels is about 4 billion liters, which is a stable level over recent years.
