Father Haddad: Election of a new Greek Catholic Archbishop enhances Christian presence in Jordan

Father Nabil Haddad, General Administrator of the Melkite Greek Catholics, stated that the appointment of Archbishop Eduard Daher as the new Greek Catholic Archbishop marks an important milestone in the journey of the Church in Jordan, following a period during which a Patriarchal Administrator managed the affairs of the archeparchy.

Father Haddad added that the Jordanian archeparchy is among the oldest churches in Jordan, carrying a deep-rooted history and an enduring spiritual and national presence. He expressed hope that the new Archbishop will be a qualitative addition to pastoral and ecclesiastical work, continuing to serve the members of the archeparchy and strengthening its mission within Jordanian society.

The Synod of Bishops of the Melkite Greek Catholic Church had announced, during its meetings held in Rome between October 6 and 9, 2026, presided over by Patriarch Youssef Absi, the transfer of Archbishop Daher from the Archeparchy of Tripoli to Amman.
