The Director of Education in Madaba, Fawaz Al-Aqeel, inaugurated the exhibition «Jordan.. The Land and the People» at Madaba Basic Mixed School, which includes miniature models documenting the civilizations and historical periods that have succeeded on the land of Jordan.
The school principal, Intisar Al-Mahamid, said that the preparation of the exhibition took a year in cooperation with the students' families and under the supervision of the history teacher, Riham Abu Al-Ghanem, explaining that the students made the models using paper, cardboard, and recycled materials to embody aspects of life in different civilizations, including houses, tools, cities, markets, and ancient roads.
The exhibition includes a model of a Bedouin tent, the Umayyad Palace, and a scene documenting the Battle of Karameh, along with a map of Jordan surrounded by symbols from different eras, and models of ancient mosques and churches.
Al-Aqeel expressed his pride in the project that documents aspects of the national memory with self-potential, pointing to its role in enhancing students' knowledge of Jordan's history as a meeting point of civilizations and a trade passage.
In conjunction with the exhibition, the school launched its cultural week in cooperation with the Madaba Directorate of Culture, which includes a book fair, poetic and narrative readings, and cultural and educational lectures for parents. The opening was attended by the Director of Madaba Culture, Muhammad Al-Ruwaihan, the Director of Technical and Educational Affairs, Asma Al-Bawari, the Chairman of the Educational Development Council, Ghalib Al-Balawi, and a number of educators and members of the local community.
