Etihad Airways is considering legal action against the English Premier League, after the league's lawyer described sponsorship contracts linked to Abu Dhabi with Manchester City as «fake» during the financial charges case hearings.
According to the «Daily Mail», company officials are outraged by the implication that their partnership with the club was not genuine, considering these statements to have caused significant damage to their reputation.
The league had accused City of inflating the value of sponsorship contracts and considering them as convincing funding from the club's owners, while Etihad maintains that the agreements are genuine commercial deals made according to market value.
The company's lawyers are currently examining the options available for a potential lawsuit.
