Contractors: A shift in the volume of projects to be implemented in the coming years

The President of the Jordanian Construction Contractors Association, Fuad Al-Dweiri, confirmed that the coming years will witness a qualitative shift in the volume of projects to be implemented in the Kingdom, noting that the cost of expected projects in the water, gas, railway, sewage, and road sectors amounts to approximately 12 billion Jordanian Dinars.

This came during a meeting held by the Association today for water and sewage contractors, in the presence of a number of board members, including Vice President Dr. Marouf Al-Ghananim, Treasurer Engineer Rafiq Murad, and Engineer Ghassan Marayat, alongside representatives from the consulting firm ECO Consult and a number of contracting companies specializing in water and sewage works.

Al-Dweiri stated that the region has gone through difficult conditions over the past ten years due to the low volume of projects, but the coming phase is expected to witness a major recovery in the contracting sector, in light of the volume of projects expected to be implemented in a number of vital sectors.

Al-Dweiri revealed a move to coordinate with the Ministry of Public Works to hold a workshop under the patronage of the Prime Minister, with the participation of the Ministries of Public Works, Local Administration, Education, and Water, in addition to the Phosphate and Potash companies, Military Works, and the Public Security Directorate, to review the volume of work and projects expected by each entity during the coming years.

Al-Dweiri added that the Risha gas pipeline project is linked to the development of 84 gas wells and has been tendered under the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) system, emphasizing the importance of activating the Water and Sewage Committee in the Association and completing the necessary procedures in coordination with the consulting firm ECO Consult.

For his part, Vice President Dr. Marouf Al-Ghananim said that the next ten years will witness a large volume of work in the water, railway, gas, and other sectors, stressing the importance of addressing the challenges facing contractors and facilitating procedures for them, enabling them to benefit from the opportunities and projects expected during the coming phase.
