Conference in Amman to enhance Jordanian women's opportunities in international labor markets

The Princess Taghrid Institute for Development and Training organized today, Monday, the "Women's Economic Participation in International Labor Markets" conference, under the patronage of the Minister of Labor and Minister of Transport, Dr. Nidal Al-Bataineh, as part of the activities of the "Migration and Development Centers" (ZME) project, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).

The conference, held at the institute's headquarters in the Khalda area, witnessed the participation of the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Labor, Dr. Abdul Halim Dujan, the Deputy German Ambassador and Head of the Economic Section at the German Embassy, Sonke Lorenz, and the Director-General of the Princess Taghrid Institute for Development and Training, Dr. Aghadeer Jweihan, alongside representatives from the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), government institutions, international organizations, and relevant stakeholders.

Dujan emphasized the importance of organized labor mobility in enhancing the economic participation of Jordanian women and opening new horizons for national competencies in international labor markets, which contributes to expanding employment opportunities and reducing unemployment.

For his part, Lorenz reviewed German support aimed at enhancing women's access to international job opportunities, stressing the importance of joint cooperation in developing professional capabilities and empowering women economically.

During panel discussions with the participation of representatives from national and international entities, the conference discussed the opportunities and challenges associated with organized labor mobility, ways to provide safe and fair work pathways, protecting the rights of female workers, and developing professional skills and career guidance in line with the needs of global labor markets.

At the conclusion of the conference, Jweihan emphasized the importance of forming an executive committee comprising various participating entities to follow up on the implementation of recommendations and translate the conference outcomes into practical steps that contribute to enhancing Jordanian women's opportunities, stressing the need for integrated efforts between government institutions, training entities, and international partners.

Jweihan said, "Our true success is not measured by the number of meetings and recommendations, but by our ability to turn these efforts into real opportunities that open new horizons for Jordanian women for a better professional future."

She expressed the institute's aspiration to continue cooperation with the Ministry of Labor, the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), and all partners, in a way that enhances the readiness of Jordanian women and expands their opportunities for economic participation in international labor markets.
