Chief Justice condemns Karak incident and affirms the sanctity of blood and the unity of Jordanians

His Eminence the Chief Justice, Sheikh Abdul-Hafez Nahar Al-Rabtah, expressed deep sadness and pain regarding the tragic incident witnessed in Karak Governorate, and the resulting victims and injuries, affirming that what has befallen our people in Karak has befallen all Jordanians, and that the sanctity, security, and dignity of human life are among the great values that divine laws have come to preserve, and upon which the foundations of justice and the stability of societies are built.

His Eminence stated that Islamic Sharia has made the preservation of life one of its greatest objectives, and established the sanctity of blood on a firm legal basis, in accordance with the Almighty’s saying: "If any one slew a person - unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land - it would be as if he slew the whole people" (Al-Ma'idah: 32), emphasizing that safeguarding human life and protecting it from injustice and aggression is a religious and moral responsibility, and that justice is the guarantee that preserves rights and protects people's dignity and security.

His Eminence added that what unites Jordanians in terms of a shared history and deep-rooted values of brotherhood and solidarity forms a solid foundation for their national unity. Karak has remained a witness to these values, given the magnanimity, loyalty, and cohesion known of its people under various circumstances, affirming that these firm bonds give society its strength in facing adversity and overcoming its effects with a spirit of responsibility and solidarity.

His Eminence stressed that establishing justice, safeguarding rights, and doing justice to the oppressed are firm principles emphasized by Islamic Sharia, praising the efforts made by state institutions and their specialized agencies in maintaining the security of citizens and protecting their safety, and affirming the importance of the work these institutions do in consolidating the rule of law and protecting the stability of society.

His Eminence pointed to the role played by scholars and religious institutions in promoting awareness of the value of life and the sanctity of blood, consolidating the values of mercy, moderation, and respect for human beings, and contributing to protecting society from ideas and practices that disregard people's rights or threaten their security and safety.

His Eminence affirmed that Jordan, under its Hashemite leadership, will remain committed to its message based on justice, moderation, and respect for human beings, and that the strength of the nation is derived from the unity of its people, their trust in its institutions, and their commitment to the values that have brought them together throughout their history.

His Eminence extended his sincere condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims and our people in Karak Governorate, asking God Almighty to grant their families patience and solace, and to grant the injured a speedy recovery, affirming that the pain of loss experienced by the bereaved families is a pain shared by all Jordanians.

His Eminence concluded by emphasizing that the sanctity of blood is an unchanging principle, justice is an indivisible duty, and the security and dignity of every person on the land of Jordan is a trust borne by the nation with its institutions and its people.
