British Prime Minister Andy Burnham and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky discussed ways to strengthen defense cooperation in the face of Russian attacks on Ukraine.
This came during their meeting on Wednesday in the British capital, London, according to a statement by the British Prime Minister's office.
The statement reported that the two sides discussed Russian attacks on civilians and energy infrastructure, and considered that Moscow "shows no interest in peace."
The meeting also discussed increasing support from Ukraine's allies to counter Russian attacks, particularly through the use of jet-powered drones.
During the meeting, Burnham also announced a new British support package for Ukraine that includes lightweight multi-role missiles.
The two parties also discussed accelerating defense support for Ukraine ahead of winter, including long-range missiles, developing military solutions, and integrating British capabilities into equipment provided by other partners.
It is worth noting that Russia has been launching a military offensive on Ukraine since February 24, 2022, and conditions its end on Kyiv abandoning its bid to join Western military blocs, which the latter considers "interference" in its affairs.
Since the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian war, tension has escalated between Moscow and European countries, amid broad Western sanctions on Russia and European military and financial support for Ukraine.
European countries accuse Russia of being behind cyberattacks, sabotage, jamming of navigation systems, and targeting infrastructure, while Moscow accuses the West of waging a "hybrid war" against it and supporting Kyiv to weaken Russia.
