Amman Municipality Clarifies: Tree Removal Came After Numerous Complaints

The Executive Director of Agriculture and Forestry at the Greater Amman Municipality, Engineer Ma'een Zariqat, confirmed that the Municipality has started removing trees that obstruct pedestrian movement on sidewalks, especially those with a width of less than two meters.

Zariqat explained, during his talk on the program 'Pulse of Opinion' on Radio of Opinion, that the decision came after a field study and numerous complaints, pointing out that a nursery with an area of 18 dunams has been prepared to transfer trees that can be replanted in other locations.

He pointed out that the Municipality will adopt suitable varieties for planting on sidewalks, in a way that preserves the green area without affecting pedestrian movement or infrastructure.

He pointed out that the project implementation began in the Zahran area, around Salah al-Din Park, to include other areas according to the results of the field evaluation.
