Al-Oudat: Municipal Elections a Platform to Strengthen Youth and Parties' Presence

Minister of Political and Parliamentary Affairs Abdul-Moneim Al-Oudat affirmed that the upcoming municipal council elections represent an important milestone for parties to strengthen their presence in public life, expand youth and women's participation, and express the opinions and aspirations of citizens, considering that these councils are directly linked to developmental and service issues and the needs of local communities.

This was stated during Al-Oudat's meeting, today Monday, at the Ministry building, with young men and women from Ajloun Governorate participating in the 'Generation of Decision' hackathon, implemented by the Nasij Sustainable Development Foundation within the 'Tamkeen' project, funded by the King Abdullah II Fund for Development.

Al-Oudat emphasized the importance of youth involvement in political and public life during the upcoming phase, especially in light of the upcoming municipal council electoral entitlement, noting that the royal interest in enhancing the role of youth and involving them in public life and decision-making confirms their status as active partners in building the future.

He said that the success of the political modernization process is measured by the extent of youth involvement in party and political work, and their transition to the position of active partnership in shaping public policies and building the future, alongside providing an environment that ensures them to practice their public role safely and effectively.

He added that the consolidation of the rule of law and the promotion of active citizenship represent two fundamental pillars in the political modernization system, considering them as a basis for expanding political participation, enhancing confidence in national institutions, and consolidating national stability.

For his part, the Executive Director of the Nasij Sustainable Development Foundation, Refaat Freihat, emphasized the importance of the meeting in providing a direct space for dialogue between young people and decision-makers, explaining that the 'Generation of Decision' hackathon aims to enhance the capabilities of young people and provide them with the knowledge and skills necessary for active participation in public life, and to turn their ideas into initiatives that are applicable and have a tangible impact in their communities.

An interactive dialogue with young people was held during the meeting, addressing their role in society, the importance of enhancing national awareness and identity and political participation, understanding the roles of national institutions, alongside discussing the challenges they face and ways to turn their ideas and initiatives into projects capable of making a tangible impact.
