Minister of State for Prime Ministry Affairs Abdulatif Al-Najdawi stated that the decision issued by Prime Minister Dr. Jafar Hassan at the beginning of the current year regarding banning travel abroad for ministers, heads of official bodies and institutions, government department directors, and employees—except for essential meetings necessary for the ministry's work—has achieved financial savings for the state treasury amounting to about 3 million dinars to date.
Al-Najdawi pointed out that the financial savings from this decision are expected to reach about 4 million dinars by the end of the current year.
Stemming from the government's commitment to rationalize expenditures, Prime Minister Dr. Jafar Hassan had issued a circular last February deciding to ban travel abroad for ministers, heads of official bodies and institutions, and government department directors, except for essential meetings necessary for the ministry's work.
The Prime Minister stressed that travel should be limited to a single official (the minister, head of the body, department director, or their deputy), without taking companions, and that the duration of stay should not exceed two nights for official work.
The Prime Minister also decided in a communiqué issued at the beginning of June to extend the implementation of his previous decision suspending travel for employees, delegations, and official committees until the end of the current year, except in cases of utmost necessity, and that travel must be for justified reasons and with prior approval from the Prime Minister.
