MP Muhammad Al-Bastinji said that King Abdullah II's speech before the United Nations General Assembly presented the world with a clear picture of the steadfast Jordanian position, considering that its most prominent international implication is the affirmation that Jordan's commitment to peace and dialogue is inseparable from its adherence to the rights of the Palestinian people and the protection of its national interests.
Al-Bastinji added that the speech, in his reading, leaves no room for speculation in interpreting Jordan's priorities or the belief that regional developments could lead it to change its stance on the Palestinian issue, noting that the importance of the royal message lies in its clarity to the international community, away from positions that can be interpreted in more than one way.
He believed that the speech presents the international reader with the Jordanian position as an integrated position, which does not reduce Palestine to a humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, nor separates the suffering of the Palestinians from their political rights, emphasizing that this implication is essential for understanding Jordan's insistence on addressing the root of the issue, not just dealing with its consequences.
He pointed out that addressing the Kingdom's water and border security illustrates to the international community that Jordan is also talking about national interests directly affected by regional developments, and that understanding its position requires recognizing these considerations, alongside its role in supporting Palestinian rights.
Al-Bastinji affirmed his support for the positions expressed by His Majesty the King, stressing that the role of the deputies is to support the royal efforts and strengthen the national position
