The acting Secretary General of the Jordan Football Association, Farah Al Badarna, said that the nomination of the Association for the Best National Association in Asia for 2026 in the Platinum category, alongside the Japanese and Saudi Associations, reflects years of work, development, sports achievements, and institutional work in Jordanian football.
Al Badarna added that the nomination is a source of pride for Jordanian football and reflects the efforts made by various components of the football system under the leadership of His Highness Prince Ali bin Al Hussein, President of the Association.
She explained that the evaluation conducted by the Asian Football Confederation was based on a set of criteria, most notably sports achievements, hosting continental and international tournaments, governance and institutional management, and programs for the development of referees and coaches, alongside social responsibility programs.
She pointed out that among the most prominent achievements of Jordanian football during the period covered by the evaluation were the national team's qualification for the World Cup finals, reaching the final of the Asian Cup, and obtaining the runner-up position in the Arab Cup, in addition to the achievements of the women's and age group teams.
Al Badarna pointed to the women's team's victory in the ninth edition of the West Asia Championship, alongside the Under-14 girls' team winning the West Asia Championship, noting that the Association also hosted four Asian qualifiers and the West Asia Championship for men during the period covered by the evaluation.
She confirmed that the integration of sports achievements and technical and institutional work contributed to enhancing the presence of the Jordan Football Association at the continental level and its arrival at the final list of candidates for the award.
Regarding plans to develop the game, Al Badarna said that the Association continues to implement long-term technical plans to develop age groups and women's football, with the aim of expanding the base of the game, discovering talents, and replenishing national teams with players and players.
She added that the Association is working to establish age group championships and increase the number of matches, alongside launching Prince Ali Centers for Promising Boys and Girls and an academy for goalkeepers, in light of the directives of His Highness Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II.
She affirmed that the nomination constitutes an additional incentive to continue working at all levels, emphasizing that the Association's ambition is to build a system capable of achieving achievements in a sustainable manner.
Al Badarna said that this appreciation places a greater responsibility on the Association to build on what has been achieved and to continue enhancing institutional work and cooperation with the Association's partners who contributed to the achievements, which will reflect on the development of Jordanian football in the future.
The Asian Football Confederation Awards are scheduled to be distributed during the 30th annual ceremony, to be hosted by the Thai capital Bangkok next November.
