Ajlun Celebrates World Tourism Day and Enhances Its Presence as an Integrated Tourist Destination

The Ajlun Development Area, affiliated with the Jordanian Group for Free Zones and Development Areas, in cooperation with the Ajlun Tourism Directorate, celebrated World Tourism Day at Ajlun Castle Square, under the patronage of Ajlun Governor Nayef Al-Hadayat, and with the participation of a number of official, tourism, and community events.

Engineer Tariq Al-Ma'aytah, Director of the Ajlun Development Area, emphasized the importance of the occasion in highlighting the tourist status of Ajlun Governorate and its natural, historical, and tourist assets that qualify it to be one of the most prominent tourist destinations in the Kingdom, as well as the importance of integrating efforts between concerned parties to develop the tourism product and enhance its competitiveness.

Al-Ma'aytah added that this event, which lasts for four days, comes within the framework of efforts aimed at enhancing the presence of the Ajlun Cable Car as one of the most prominent modern tourism projects in the governorate, which has contributed to adding a new tourist and recreational pattern to the tourism experience in Ajlun, and linking the natural and historical assets of the governorate with an integrated tourism experience that attracts visitors from different regions of the Kingdom and tourists coming to Jordan.

The occasion also represents an opportunity to emphasize the importance of trail tourism in Ajlun, as one of the promising tourism products that combine nature, adventure, heritage, and the local community, and contribute to extending the visitor's stay, stimulating tourism movement in the surrounding villages and areas, and creating new economic opportunities for the local community.

He pointed out that the development of tourism in Ajlun is not linked to one location or one tourism project, but rather is based on building an integrated tourism system that combines the castle, the Ajlun Cable Car, tourist trails, forests, rural and agricultural products, investment projects, and tourism services, thereby enhancing the governorate's ability to attract visitors throughout the year.

The Jordanian Group for Free Zones and Development Areas affirmed that celebrating World Tourism Day represents an occasion to renew the commitment to continue working on developing the tourism product in the governorate, enhancing partnership with various related parties, which contributes to supporting the local economy, empowering local communities, and opening the door to more investments and tourism projects that suit the specificity and nature of Ajlun.

This is in line with national directions aimed at making tourism a driver of economic and social development in the governorates, and turning tourism and natural assets into real opportunities for growth, investment, and job opportunities, thereby enhancing Ajlun's status as an integrated and sustainable Jordanian tourist destination.

Ajlun Tourism Director Firas Al-Khatib said that World Tourism Day is an important occasion to highlight the tourist, natural, and archaeological assets that Ajlun Governorate is rich in, and to enhance awareness of the importance of tourism and its role in supporting local development and the national economy.

He pointed out that the governorate witnesses a diversity of tourism programs and events that target visitors and families, and contribute to showcasing the Ajlun tourist product and linking it to local heritage, home products, and handicrafts, emphasizing the importance of enhancing partnership with the local community and concerned parties to develop the tourism sector.

He explained that the Tourism Directorate works to support tourist trails and promote natural, archaeological, and heritage sites, and encourage local community members to engage in tourism activities and projects, which contributes to providing job opportunities and achieving sustainable development.

Al-Khatib emphasized the importance of preserving the environment and tourist and archaeological sites, and enhancing inclusive tourism that allows all segments of society to access various sites and events, pointing out that Ajlun has the assets that qualify it to be a tourist destination throughout the year.
