Dr. Anastasia Samoilova, a specialist in integrative preventive medicine, believes that two days of rest may not be enough to restore psychological and physical balance after a stressful work week, noting that the body may need 72 hours to recover.
Samoilova explains that the first day of vacation is often spent getting rid of the effects of stress, while sleep recovery and the improvement of bodily functions begin gradually during the second and third days. Therefore, she believes that the ideal work system from a preventive perspective could be four working days for three days of rest, or reducing working hours to six hours per day.
In case it is not possible to get a longer vacation, she advises dedicating a full day to rest and staying away from the flow of information and daily pressures.
She points out that not getting enough rest may be linked to the appearance of signs such as changes in sweating and difficulty in regulating body temperature, in addition to a strong craving for carbohydrates, especially in the afternoon.
Constant stress may also be accompanied by anxiety and hair loss, which are symptoms that require attention, especially if they persist or recur.
