The Palestinian Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission monitored, on Monday, 14 attacks carried out by the Israeli army and settlers against Palestinian farmers, their lands, and their crops in the occupied West Bank within 12 hours.
The government commission said in a statement that the attacks took place between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM in the governorates of Ramallah and Al-Bireh (center), Salfit and Nablus (north), and Hebron (south).
It explained that settlers carried out 10 attacks, the Israeli army 3, while both parties participated in another attack.
The attacks varied between attacking olive pickers, expelling and detaining them, stealing crops and agricultural equipment, vandalizing property, and uprooting trees.
Eight attacks were recorded in the Ramallah and Al-Bireh governorate, including the army preventing farmers from reaching their lands in the Al-Shouna area of Turmus Ayya town and forcing them to leave.
A Palestinian was also injured as a result of a settler attack while picking olives and was transported to the hospital, according to the commission.
It added that settlers expelled farmers from their lands in Burqa, Kafr Malik, and areas belonging to Deir Dibwan, and also smashed a farmer's car in the latter.
In Salfit governorate, the commission monitored 3 attacks, including the expulsion of farmers from their lands in Yasuf village and the theft of olive fruits and a harvesting machine.
The western area of Deir Istiya town also witnessed a joint attack by the army and settlers, which included expelling farmers and stealing their crops and agricultural equipment.
In Nablus governorate, the commission said that the Israeli army uprooted more than 200 fruit-bearing olive trees in the Al-Sour area of Al-Lubban ash-Sharqiya village before their owners could harvest their fruits.
The army also detained farmers in Wadi al-Shami in Asira al-Qibliya town and prevented them from continuing the harvest.
In Khirbet Aqawis in Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron, settlers attacked members of the Al-Na'amin family while they were picking olives, attempted to seize their equipment, and prevented them from continuing their work, according to the statement.
The commission stated that the multiple forms of attacks, from preventing access to lands and stealing crops to uprooting trees, cause farmers losses that extend to future seasons and threaten their sources of livelihood.
In a previous statement on Monday, the commission announced the recording of 136 attacks related to the olive harvest season since the beginning of this October, including 92 that targeted olive pickers or prevented them from reaching their lands, and 44 that included crop theft or tree destruction.
The olive harvest season usually begins at the start of October and continues until the end of November, and it constitutes a primary source of livelihood for thousands of Palestinian families.
Since the start of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip in October 2023, attacks by the Israeli army and settlers against Palestinians and their property in the West Bank, including occupied East Jerusalem, have escalated.
Palestinians say that the escalation of settlement activity and Israeli attacks threatens the possibility of establishing an independent Palestinian state in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions.
