Four months after his appointment, Bologna, which is going through a difficult period in the Italian Football League, terminated the contract of its coach Domenico Tedesco, and he was immediately replaced by former Atalanta coach Raffaele Palladino, according to a club statement published yesterday, Wednesday.
The brief text stated: "Bologna FC 1909 extends its sincere thanks to Domenico Tedesco for the work he has done with professionalism and efficiency."
The 41-year-old Italian-German coach, who was born in Calabria before growing up in Germany, was appointed on June 2 to succeed Vincenzo Italiano.
After Schalke in 2019, Leipzig in Germany in 2022, the Belgium national team in 2025, and Turkey's Fenerbahçe in April, this is the fifth time in his career that Tedesco has been dismissed from his position as coach.
He also served as coach of the Belgium national team between 2023 and 2025.
To succeed him, the management of the Emilia-Romagna club appointed Raffaele Palladino (42). The former Monza and Fiorentina coach had been available since his departure from Atalanta Bergamo in June and signed a contract running until June 2029.
The club, located in northern Italy, is struggling at the start of the current season, as it occupies sixteenth place in the league standings after suffering three defeats in four matches, the last of which was against Napoli on Sunday (1-0).
