It is not easy to understand the personality of Benjamin Netanyahu through his political and media image alone, as the man who spent nearly 19 years at the pinnacle of Israeli power, and succeeded in returning to the premiership more than once, appears in his speeches to be extremely confident, firm, cohesive, and capable of facing his opponents and surroundings, but getting closer to his personality, according to those who have worked with or under him, reveals a strange paradox in his personality, extreme obstinacy in public with psychological fragility from within, and arrogance that hides a deep fear of losing power.
Netanyahu has become a professional in living on the edge and in his ability to survive, and he has an exceptional ability to read and understand the public, using language and rhetoric that suit his target audience, and presenting himself as the indispensable man in facing security threats and challenges, and studies in analyzing his personality indicate traits associated with the need for power, high self-confidence, distrust of others, and resistance to imposed restrictions, but "Bibi's" problem is the transformation of confidence into certainty, and certainty into stubbornness and arrogance, as Netanyahu appears in many of his positions as if he does not only want to win the political battle he faces, but wants to prove that he was right all along, and this is a key point to understanding his behavior, as the man does not like to appear as retreating, and does not easily deal with the idea of admitting a mistake, and therefore, retreat for him becomes more than just a change in position, it becomes a threat to the image he has created for himself and about himself as a leader capable of protecting and leading Israel, and here another paradox appears: the more arrogant he appears, the more he may need to prove his strength.
