Winning experiences and a member of the Sharjah Government Communication Award jury confirmed that the strength of a nomination file is linked to its ability to present a comprehensive story of the initiative, starting with identifying the issue or challenge it addresses, moving through the strategy and implementation mechanisms, and culminating in documented results and measurable impact verified by data and evidence.
The award is organized by the Media Office of the Sharjah Government, attracting participation from government entities at local, regional, and international levels, alongside regional and international organizations and private sector institutions, aiming to honor impactful communication experiences and motivate institutions to document their practices, measure the impact of their initiatives, and exchange inspiring models.
Dr. Khalifa Mubshah Al Tunaiji, President of the Sharjah Agriculture and Livestock Circle and CEO of the Sharjah Agricultural and Livestock Production Foundation 'Iktifaa', whose department won the award in the 'Distinguished Communication Footprint in Quality of Life' category for 2025, emphasized the importance of studying the category criteria and requirements when preparing a nomination file, and selecting the experiences most closely related to them.
He explained that the department's file presented a coherent experience that illustrated the need that initiated the initiative, its objectives, target groups, and implementation mechanisms, and the integration of media, field, and digital communication, leading to results and impact, supported by statistics, reports, media monitoring, content samples, and interaction results.
For his part, Dr. Ali Jaber, a member of the award jury, Director General of 'MBC' channels and Dean of the Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Communication at the American University in Dubai, said that the nomination file represents the basis on which the jury relies in evaluating participations, as it reflects the quality of the initiative, the clarity of its objectives, the efficiency of its implementation, and the results and impact it achieved.
He pointed out that the committee reads the file in a sequence starting with the justifications for launching the initiative, the strategy upon which it is based, and its implementation mechanisms, up to the results and impact, confirming that presenting these elements in a coherent manner and supported by data, indicators, and documented evidence allows the participation to be evaluated according to the award criteria and reflects the true value of the initiative.
The experience of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, a winner in the previous cycle of the award, highlights the importance of documenting results and beneficiary stories, as Dr. Salama Nader Al Qubaisi, Director of Corporate Communication at the Fund, said that the participation file was keen to present a comprehensive experience reflecting the impact of corporate communication in highlighting developmental achievements, and based on realistic models and reliable results.
She affirmed that effective communication is not limited to presenting numbers and results, but rather tells the story behind them and places the human at the core of development.
The process of preparing a nomination file includes describing the initiative and the reasons for its launch, defining its objectives, audience, messages, and communication channels, then documenting the implementation mechanisms, results, and impact, based on official reports, performance indicators, studies, surveys, digital analytics, media coverage, and other verifiable evidence.
The award evaluates participations based on three main axes, including results and impact, strategy and plan, and implementation, with an additional excellence degree of up to 10% above the base score for participations that employ artificial intelligence responsibly and innovatively.
The award emphasizes the importance of avoiding several mistakes that may weaken nomination files, most notably choosing a category that does not match the nature of the initiative, confusing strategy with implementation, focusing on activities without stating the results and impact, or providing information not supported by evidence.
The Sharjah Government Communication Award provided a participation guide on its website, including instructions on preparing a nomination file, documenting results and impact, and evidence criteria, to help participating entities present their experiences in a comprehensive and assessable manner.
