The Crime of Extremism Against Homelands, and Refuting the Suspicions of the People of Deviation and Aggression

Praise be to God, who made tolerance the hallmark of Sharia, and made homelands prosperous and sound through security and justice. Prayers and peace be upon the Prophet of bestowed mercy, the firmest bond for those who follow his guidance, and upon his righteous family and companions, the protectors of the religion and the best of the best. To proceed:

The events in proud Karak, with the tragedy brought about by the actions of extremist criminals, were not merely a breach of peace and security; rather, they were a calamity that revealed the abhorrent and distorted ideas in the minds of the tyrannical. In them, the partner in the homeland and the security protectors of the land were targeted. Exposing this renegade ideology and refuting its suspicions with truthful evidence is one of the most obligatory religious duties, so that this sanctuary may remain protected from Jahili (ignorant) tendencies.

First: The Sanctity of the Blood of Christians and Protected Persons and the Primacy of Coexistence

The Kharijites of the modern era have imagined that differences in religion permit the shedding of blood and the igniting of strife and corruption. This is the essence of misguidance and destruction. Islam has protected the People of the Book in their lives and wealth. God Almighty says in the Holy Quran: {God does not forbid you from those who do not fight you because of religion and do not expel you from your homes - from being righteous toward them and acting justly toward them. Indeed, God loves those who act justly} [Al-Mumtahanah: 8]. Whoever is a citizen throughout time, their blood is protected by a firm religious contract that may not be broken in any form or way. The Prophet, peace be upon him, said: "Whoever kills a person under a covenant will not smell the fragrance of Paradise, even though its fragrance can be found from a distance of forty years." (Narrated by Al-Bukhari).

If we look at the Shafi'i school of thought, which is the sound school practiced in our secure country, we find that scholars have established the sanctity of the blood of our brothers in citizenship with great emphasis. Imam Al-Shafi'i says in his book "Al-Umm": (If the Imam or one authorized to make a contract grants protection to a people... it is not permissible for any Muslim to kill them or take any of their wealth). The Proof of Islam, Imam Al-Ghazali Al-Shafi'i, confirms in "Al-Wajiz" that the contract of protection and covenant necessitates refraining from harming lives and wealth, and makes violating them a departure from the path of Sharia in all cases. How then do these renegades dare to violate religious covenants established by respected jurisprudential rulings?

Second: Refuting the Suspicions of the People of Takfir (Excommunication) and Rebellion

These aggressors have clung to suspicions like a mirage in a desert, turning people away from the truth and contradicting the clear Sharia. Among the most prominent are:

The First Suspicion: Distorting the concept of "Loyalty and Disavowal" to show hostility toward Christians: They claim that disavowal requires eradication and killing. This is ignorance of context and transmission. How can Sharia permit you to marry a woman of the Book, to love her with the love of a wife, to protect and defend her, and to have ties of kinship and affinity with her family? Our Prophet loved his uncle Abu Talib, and the Quran speaks of this love. Their intended meaning of disavowal is not to acknowledge beliefs that contradict Sharia, and it was never, in any way, a severance of the causes of righteousness and justice between people.

Imam Al-Nawawi Al-Shafi'i says in "Sharh Sahih Muslim" when discussing kindness to non-Muslims: "As for being righteous to them, maintaining ties with them, and doing good to them, it is recommended, especially if there is kinship or neighborhood between them and the Muslims." How then can the recommendation for kindness be turned into killing, treachery, and aggression?

The Second Suspicion: Excommunicating security personnel and declaring their blood permissible: These extremists label the protectors of the homeland with Takfir to make their blood permissible without reproach. This is the very path of the early Kharijites, who excommunicated the blessed companions. It is stated in the noble Hadith: "If a man says to his brother, 'O disbeliever,' then one of them has incurred it" (Narrated by Al-Bukhari). Imam Hafiz Ibn Hajar Al-Asqalani Al-Shafi'i says in "Fath al-Bari": "In this is a severe warning against excommunicating a Muslim for something that does not warrant his excommunication, for whoever does that is feared to fall into it himself."

Third: The Crime of Extremism Against the Objectives of Sharia and the Stability of Homelands

The glorious Sharia came to preserve the five necessities and to shine with the light of justice as the sun shines. These renegades have sought to invert these objectives, spreading corruption on earth with every envious act. God Almighty says: {And when he goes away, he strives throughout the land to cause corruption therein and destroy crops and animals. And God does not like corruption} [Al-Baqarah: 205].

What they did in proud Karak, by terrorizing peaceful souls, is a demolition of the structure of society and a closing of the doors of mercy and benefit. Shafi'i jurists have stipulated that anyone who goes out to commit highway robbery or terrorize peaceful people with weapons is treated as a corrupt aggressor, and it is mandatory to fight them to repel their evil from the people and the land.

Conclusion of Thought and Sound Impact

The blood of the innocent in Karak, in the past and present, including the brave security personnel and the virtuous citizens, will remain a witness that Jordan is one body that does not accept division, and a fortified structure that refuses to crumble. The bridle for this misguided ideology is to take religious rulings from the people of knowledge and justice, and to fortify the youth with sound knowledge derived from the texts of respected Imams, so that this homeland may remain a vessel for security and a beacon of peace and prosperity.
