Tharwat Al-Hajjaj wins weightlifting bronze, bringing Jordan's medal tally to 5 at the Nagoya Paralympics

Jordanian national Paralympic weightlifting team athlete, Tharwat Al-Hajjaj, won the bronze medal on Thursday in the 86 kg weight category at the "Nagoya 2026" Asian Para Games, bringing Jordan's total tally in the games to 5 medals, consisting of two golds, one silver, and two bronzes.

Al-Hajjaj's crowning came after a strong and close competition among the athletes, during which she managed to lift 129 kg, securing the bronze medal and adding a new achievement to Jordan's record in the games held in the Japanese city of Nagoya.

Al-Hajjaj continued her presence on the podiums at the Asian Para Games, having won her fourth medal in the history of her participation in the event, as she previously won bronze in the 2010 Guangzhou edition, silver in Incheon 2014, and silver in Hangzhou 2023, before adding the Nagoya 2026 bronze to her record of achievements.

Al-Hajjaj's crowning came hours after her teammate Asmaa Issa won the bronze medal in the 79 kg weightlifting competition, making Al-Hajjaj's bronze Jordan's fifth medal in the fifth edition of the games, held in the Japanese city of Nagoya.
