The national taekwondo team awaits today the draw for the third round of the Grand Prix series (G6), which kicks off tomorrow, Friday, in the French capital, Paris, with the participation of an elite group of world-ranked athletes.
The team awaits the draw to identify its opponents and path in the tournament, ahead of the start of the competitions, which form a new stop within this year's Grand Prix series.
The national team is participating in the Paris round with seven male and female players: Zaid Al-Halawani, Zaid Mustafa, Saleh Al-Sharabaty, Jaafar Al-Daoud, Rama Abu Al-Rub, Fadia Kharfan, and Razan Al-Rawashdeh.
The delegation is accompanied by the technical director of the national teams Fares Al-Assaf, coaches Yazan Al-Sadek and Zaid Abu Zaid, and physiotherapist Lana Jordan.
The national team began its training sessions in Paris immediately upon arrival from Japan, following its participation in the 20th edition of the Asian Games - Nagoya 2026, benefiting from it to maintain its physical and technical readiness before entering the tournament competitions.
The Paris round constitutes the third stop of the 2026 Grand Prix series, following the Rome and Muju rounds, and gives Jordanian players a new opportunity to gauge their level against world taekwondo elites in a tournament witnessing wide participation from top-ranked athletes.
Jaafar Al-Daoud had made a striking Jordanian presence in the Rome round after winning the bronze medal in the under-58 kg weight category, adding a new result to his participations in Grand Prix tournaments.
The team's results in the Nagoya Asian Games also provide a strong moral boost before participating in Paris, after Jordanian taekwondo harvested five medals, consisting of one gold for Fadia Kharfan and four bronzes for Saleh Al-Sharabaty, Jaafar Al-Daoud, Zaid Mustafa, and Mohammad Al-Adarbeh.
