Spaniard Pedro Rodríguez, World Cup winner and former Barcelona winger, announced his retirement from football on Wednesday at the age of 39.
The forward won the 2010 World Cup with Spain, in addition to three UEFA Champions League titles with Barcelona, including two in 2009 and 2011 under Pep Guardiola's dominant era squad.
Pedro also clinched five league titles with the Catalan club and a Premier League title with Chelsea, before moving to Italy's Roma and finally its rival Lazio.
Football fans will remember Pedro as the first player in history to score in 6 different competitions for his club in a single calendar year, a feat achieved in 2009 with Barcelona.
Pedro said in a social media post: "I feel the time has come. The time to take a step forward and start a new phase in my life."
He added: "I leave proud of having lived my dream, and of everyone who stood by me to achieve it."
The Tenerife native (Spain's Canary Islands) joined Barcelona's academy as a youngster and made his first-team debut in 2008.
He emerged under Guardiola's guidance as one of the key figures of the team that won an unprecedented six trophies in 2009.
He notably partnered with Argentina's Lionel Messi and compatriot David Villa to form a lethal attacking trio that overthrew Manchester United in the 2011 Champions League final, in which Pedro opened the scoring.
He scored 99 goals for the Catalan club in 321 matches, alongside Andrés Iniesta, Xavi Hernández and other stars.
He said in his farewell video: "Being part of the best Barcelona in history is a privilege, we won everything and amazed the world."
Pedro lifted Spain's first-ever World Cup in 2010 and also won Euro 2012 with "La Roja".
The player, who made 65 international appearances and scored 17 goals for his country, said: "One day, without quite believing it, I became a world champion and a starter in a World Cup final."
After arriving at Chelsea in 2015, Pedro won the Premier League title in 2017, along with the FA Cup and the Europa League in the following two seasons.
Lazio was his final club, which he left at the end of last season after more than 200 appearances for the Italian capital club.
