"Securities Commission" Develops Financial Legislation Examination System

The Chairman of the Securities Commission, Mr. Imad Abu Hatim, inaugurated today, Wednesday, at the Commission's headquarters, a new session for the financial legislation examination with the participation of (39) applicants from employees and those wishing to practice financial services in the local market and foreign stock exchanges, as part of the Commission's efforts to enhance professional competence and consolidate knowledge of the legislation and systems and instructions governing the Jordanian capital market.

Abu Hatim pointed out that the governance of the financial legislation examination is continuously reviewed to ensure a comprehensive development process for the examination system, which included reorganizing the mechanism for preparing questions, developing their methodology, reviewing and approving them according to principles characterized by accuracy and objectivity, in addition to developing the procedures for applying for the examination, the mechanisms for its conduct and organization, and the evaluation of its results, in a way that enhances integrity and transparency and raises the level of efficiency and organization.

The importance of the financial legislation examination lies in measuring the level of applicants' familiarity with the legislation, systems, and instructions related to the capital market, and verifying the availability of the necessary professional knowledge to practice financial services in accordance with the adopted legal and regulatory frameworks. In this context, the Commission continues to develop the examination system, professional accreditation, and the implementation of specialized programs, which contributes to raising the level of legislative and regulatory knowledge, enhancing the culture of compliance and governance, and supporting the development of the Jordanian capital market.

He explained that these updates represent a qualitative leap in the professional examination system at the Commission and aim to build a more organized and effective framework that keeps pace with the developments of the capital market and best practices, and ensures the measurement of the knowledge and professional competence of applicants with greater accuracy and fairness, as the financial legislation examination is a complement to a set of examinations offered by the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI) and covers different levels including: Introduction to Securities and Investment, Risk in Services, Monetary Fundamentals of Financial Management, etc.

Those who pass the legislation examination and the CISI examinations can apply for accreditation to practice as a compliance officer, investment manager, issuance manager, custodian, financial advisor, or investment trustee through licensed financial services companies, with a success rate of (59), according to the approved results.
