Nikitin added that preliminary information indicates there were no casualties, but an industrial facility in the Kstovsky district sustained significant damage, explaining that emergency teams are working at the incident sites while authorities assess the damage caused to civil infrastructure and property.
He warned of potential temporary power outages and reduced levels of hot water and heating supplies in some residential areas during repair work, confirming that assistance would be provided to those affected by the attack.
On the other hand, Ukrainian media reported that the attack targeted the "Lukoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez" refinery in Kstovo, and posted videos purportedly showing a fire breaking out at the facility, without independent confirmation of the nature of the damage sustained by the refinery.
Kstovo is located in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, about 450 kilometers east of Moscow, and houses a refinery considered one of Russia's largest, with a design capacity of about 17 million tons per year, according to Ukrainian media reports.
In recent months, Ukraine has intensified its drone attacks on Russian oil facilities as part of its strategy to target the Russian energy sector, while Moscow states that it is countering these attacks and working to address the resulting damage.
