Real Madrid recorded a new negative figure in the Spanish League, achieving the lowest expected goals (xG) rate in a match in the competition in over 11 years, during their 2-1 loss to Atletico Madrid in the capital derby.
According to Opta, Real Madrid's xG was only 0.32, the worst for the team since February 2015, when they scored 0.20 against Atletico Madrid as well.
Jose Mourinho's team struggled to create serious chances, with Kylian Mbappe managing only one shot throughout the match.
Real Madrid's task became more difficult after Dean Huijsen was sent off, before Atletico scored two goals, while Antonio Rudiger reduced the deficit in the 89th minute without saving his team from defeat.
