Public Works begins construction of a temporary side road to serve local traffic in the Al-Rama area

The Ministry of Public Works and Housing has begun construction work on a temporary side road adjacent to the Al-Rama bridge on the Al-Rama–Al-Joufah road, with the aim of securing the movement of local residents and pedestrians, and mitigating the effects of the road closure following the appearance of cracks in the bridge due to floods and heavy rains witnessed in the area.

The works include the construction of a temporary road equipped with culverts for rainwater and flood drainage, and concrete protections to ensure the safety of road users, provided that it continues to be used to serve local traffic until the removal of the damaged bridge, its reconstruction, and the permanent reopening of the road are completed.

The Ministry affirmed its keenness to accelerate the completion of the works and open the road to local traffic as soon as possible, while continuing to divert truck and transit vehicle traffic to alternative routes, in order to maintain public safety and ensure smooth traffic flow.
