Prince Al-Hassan: Investment in Human Capital is the Foundation for Sustainable Development

His Highness Prince Al-Hassan bin Talal, Honorary President of the Al-Hassan Award for Youth, emphasized the importance of empowering and preparing young people to become responsible leaders capable of contributing to the development of their communities, noting that investing in human capital, through education, work, and service, forms the basis for achieving sustainable development and preserving human dignity.

This was stated during a meeting with participants in the Sabilat Al-Hassan program for 2026, held at the Hall of Dignity in the Greater Madaba Municipality, in the presence of a number of officials and program organizers.

His Highness said that the meeting's location in Madaba Municipality carries implications related to the concept of institutional, service, and urban development, affirming that municipal work forms a fundamental pillar in serving local communities, and that the role of young people extends beyond benefiting from services to active participation in developing their cities through innovative ideas, volunteer work, and community initiatives.

His Highness emphasized the importance of the national industry as a cornerstone for self-reliance and economic growth, calling on young people to engage in productive sectors and employ technology, automation, and artificial intelligence to enhance the competitiveness of Jordanian products and open new horizons and markets.

His Highness also called for embedding creative thinking and transforming the challenges facing Jordan into opportunities for innovation and entrepreneurship, particularly in the fields of water, energy, agriculture, services, education, and logistics, affirming that resource scarcity has always been a catalyst for Jordanian creativity and achievement, and that knowledge and innovation have become among the most important resources for countries in the modern era.

His Highness spoke about the importance of the Multidimensional Deprivation Index in forming a more comprehensive picture of the reality of societies and their needs, by looking at the different dimensions of deprivation and not just income indicators alone.

His Highness emphasized the importance of using accurate data and knowledge to determine priorities and formulate development policies to ensure that resources and services reach the most needy groups and areas.

For her part, Dr. Khoula Al-Hassan, Director of the Al-Hassan Award for Youth in Jordan, said that Sabilat Al-Hassan for 2026 is a continuation of the program's journey, which began in 1991 under the patronage and support of His Highness Prince Al-Hassan, with the aim of empowering young people and enhancing their leadership and pioneering roles in serving the nation and society.

She explained that the participants underwent a series of visits and field activities that included historical, religious, archaeological, and environmental sites, in addition to national, economic, industrial, and logistical institutions, as well as training, sports, awareness, intellectual programs, and initiatives in innovation, entrepreneurship, and volunteer work.

For his part, the Chairman of the Madaba Greater Municipality Committee, Engineer Haitham Joueina, welcomed His Highness Prince Al-Hassan and the participants in Sabilat, praising the experience that the youth underwent in various regions of the Kingdom, which carried knowledge about Jordan's history and institutions, and reinforced the values of teamwork, giving, and belonging.

Joueina emphasized the importance of such meetings and programs in strengthening communication between generations, linking young people to their local communities, and encouraging them to actively participate in the development process and serve the nation.

At the end of the meeting, a dialogue took place between His Highness, the participants, and the participants, during which His Highness listened to their experiences and impressions about the Sabilat stations and their visits to tourist, archaeological, environmental, and national institutions in various governorates of the Kingdom, and exchanged ideas about what they gained in terms of knowledge and experience during the program.

Sabilat Al-Hassan is one of the programs of the Al-Hassan Award for Youth, which began in 1991, and aims to provide a national field experience that combines knowledge, exploration, training, and community service, and contributes to introducing young people to their homeland, institutions, and historical, environmental, and economic sites, and developing leadership skills, teamwork, and self-reliance, and reinforcing the values of citizenship, belonging, responsibility, and giving.
