"Palestinian Statistics": Producer Prices Rise by 13.82% in August

The general index of producer prices in Palestine increased by 13.82% in August 2026 compared to July, reaching 216.43 against 190.15, according to the base year 2019.

The Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics said on Monday that the producer price index for locally consumed goods from domestic production increased by 14.60%, to 227.04 from 198.11 in the previous month.

The producer price index for exported goods from domestic production also increased by 1.37%, reaching 117.42 compared to 115.83 in July.

The overall increase was driven by higher prices of goods produced within the agriculture, forestry, and fishing activities, which make up 29.94% of the product basket, by 24.08%, due to a 67.07% increase in prices of goods within the activity of cultivating permanent crops.

The increases included average prices of dates at 10.16 shekels per kilogram, oranges at 4.61 shekels, clementines at 3.55 shekels, pomegranates at 5.41 shekels, green olives for pickling at 10.55 shekels, and guavas at 14.08 shekels.

Prices of goods within the non-permanent crop cultivation activity increased by 15.50%, and those within the animal production activity by 2.49%, while prices of goods within the fishing activity decreased by 3.58%.

In other activities, prices of electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supplies increased by 2.10%, while prices of water supply, sanitation, waste management, and treatment activities decreased by 1.57%.

Prices of mining and quarrying industry products decreased by 0.12%, and prices of goods produced by manufacturing activities by 0.09%.

The decline in manufacturing prices was due to a 17.54% decrease in average prices of grain mill products, 4.18% for prepared animal feed, and 3.42% for glass and glass products, despite a 7.17% increase in bakery products and 4.07% for chemicals and chemical products.
