I believe and trust that "Jordan's scales are heavy" and Jordan is aware of the goals of the criminal parties, whether individuals, gangs, or states. We, its people, are heavier, weightier, smarter, and more far-sighted than those killers and those behind them. The goals of the criminals who thought that our street has not learned lessons from the experiences of the past and that it is weak enough for a conspiracy to pass over it—"awakening strife, and further, in our good, unified, and united country"—do not pass by us.
That is a broken record, and our immunity has risen and their nets no longer deceive us. I see a high probability that the crime was carried out by hands trained in "security laboratories" abroad. If the thinking of some is "limited" or "confined" to the idea that it is all "an outgrowth of local sectarian violence" against our Christian kin, then it is a "simplification of thought and a squint in vision" that fails to identify the circle of danger and is perhaps intentional, out of ignorance or... harming oneself!
I rule out that we will fall into the trap of the intentions of Netanyahu and the Zionist Israeli right, or that the saying of the enemy Netanyahu and his clique, "that Jordan and its Arab people are incubators for terrorism, and that we are a danger to him and a danger to our Arab brothers and to the West as well!" will be believed "among us in Jordan." By doing so, he justifies his brutal and other planned acts, and convinces the ally and friend of his claim. "And even more dangerously, he "sows and spreads among us, we "Jordanians," doubts" about each other and sows hatred and...!! A trap has been set for us, and perhaps some have fallen into it and done wrong!
The "timing" of the crime came on the calendar as a new attempt by villains and "hired movements" that sold themselves to the enemy of the nation to lower our cumulative immunity. Most importantly, "to distort the image of Jordan and its role" regionally, locally, and internationally as not being an "incubator for moderation" but an incubator for terrorism; it is a "conspiracy" that seems small but its dimensions are large and heavy. The important thing is that it does not deceive some of us to distort our image, our growing role, and our approach to internal and regional political governance before countries and donor institutions for aid.
That role and approach highlighted by the fabric of His Majesty the King's sober speech, "transcending continents and minds," at the United Nations headquarters in New York, when Jordan emphasized in the speech the balanced Jordanian political approach, its societal values, and its "role" in protecting what he called the Christian "presence" in the region, in terms of landmarks, heritage, and sacred national societal construction.
I see that the criminals also chose in their calculations a timing in a "political calendar" to carry out their conspiracy: "Netanyahu and his companions' shortness of breath locally and internationally." We also do not forget that he and his extreme right—"may his right hand be paralyzed"—have previously threatened Jordan repeatedly. Jordan's opponents have sensed that our country has gained local, regional, and international credibility through its approach. Its credibility rose even more after the Gaza war. The King's words at the United Nations also lifted the cover and masks of fanaticism, revealing the face of the occupation and its violations of international norms and laws, its lack of respect for the independence of the region's countries, and its transgressions without punishment. Jordan thus restored the international street's awakening to the ugliness of the "occupation." In fact, the forces in the international street rejecting wars and the occupation of Palestinian and Arab lands have grown.
I add here that the crime in Shihab was carried out at a time when Jordan is preparing for a historic international event and an exceptional global meeting in the Baptism site area, the harvest of which will be good for Jordan. It is the great celebration of the second millennium of the baptism of Jesus Christ, peace be upon him, in 2030. The conspirators preemptively seized the opportunity to divert the positive global trend away from us and distort Jordan's achievements, positions, and values of affection and harmony in its fabric, and its role in preserving the "Christian presence and heritage." They may use "any fabricated event" as a pretext for "preemptive intervention" in their attacks.
Jordan, the conservative, sober, and balanced, prides itself on being the "incubator of moderation" in the region. It has transparently highlighted to others, historically, how it succeeded in rooting and nurturing the values of love and human brotherhood in its societal fabric, and adopting it as a successful model on its land. As for the terrorist criminals, from my reading, I suggest they are "hired tools, not just a local Jordanian growth"! Perhaps external malicious parties invested in them and recruited them, so they attacked a rural church in the village of Hamoud, which is an easy target and link, aiming to "tear and distort" the image and role of Jordan and its successes. To make Jordan appear unable to protect "the people of a small Jordanian village from its subjects," inhabited by our Jordanian people of the Ghassanid Arab Christians, so what about its ability to protect the Christian presence over a larger area?!
This terrorist crime, in my view, is a new attempt to test and distort our role and immunity.
And perhaps an answer to what Jordan uttered before the United Nations! Truly, it is a crime from a mean planner. Thank God, it is a cross-eyed, short-sighted planning that does not hold up. The reaction of Jordanians to it is pre-read, rejecting, united, condemning the crime and the killers.
Victims from our Jordanian people have gone, and with them Muslims, alike—those who shared their brothers' grief in attending a funeral. The criminals did not distinguish between Christian and Muslim. The event struck and wounded every Jordanian, Arab, and every patriotic human being. We are waiting for the comprehensive investigation that will dismantle the model of the crime and their information. Punishment will befall the killers and their cover will be revealed according to the rule of law.
This crime is a case to be studied in strategic diplomatic institutes. Without a doubt, the crime will strengthen our resolve, our immunity, and our adherence to our inclusive approach. We will realize, more than ever before, the goals of the conspirators, the sources of their funding, and the laboratories from which they graduated. We will also realize more the "preciousness" of the unity and harmony among us, our "wealth." Our people in Karak, and in Jordan, will never be tools for crime, regardless of the origins and number of the perpetrators. Certainly, its mean goals do not pass by Jordan. The crime will not shake or weaken our loyalty, our love for each other, and our cohesion. That is a passing black cloud, but it is a "whistle" that opens eyes and ears more to the effectiveness of our adherence to security and strengthening its apparatuses, and giving it a higher priority in the future, in light of the upcoming international events. And the necessity to continue our approach in elevating and highlighting the sanctity of our unity, and rooting our values in the minds and hearts of the young generation, so we can stand against any mean plan that aims to extinguish the "flame of light in the Jordan of the righteous."
The crime that occurred struck us all and our Jordanian Arab Ghassanid people. But it shattered against the solidity of Mount Shihab. And God's curse be upon the criminals and those behind them. And God is always with us.
