Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho of Spain's Real Madrid said yesterday, Tuesday, on the eve of the match against Germany's Leipzig in the third round of the Champions League unified group stage, that no player is above accountability in the Royal team.
When asked about his Brazilian star Vinicius Junior, who is suspended for three matches in La Liga and threatened by the brilliance of the 19-year-old Ivorian youngster Yann Diomande, the Portuguese coach sent a clear message in a press conference: "Here, the only thing above accountability is the club's badge. No player is above accountability. It is not about status, the captain's armband, or the amount paid to sign him. What makes a player above accountability is their performance on the pitch."
