Vinicius (26) has also been constantly targeted by opposing fans and subjected to racist abuse on numerous occasions since joining the Royal club in 2018.
Mourinho told reporters, "He is an amazing boy who is easy to build a good relationship with."
He added: "He is a wonderful human being, and he deserves all the credit, because he continues to live and endure, and he still keeps his smile..."
He continued, "If I were in his place, I probably wouldn't have stayed here. Last summer, I would have forced a move to a league and country where there are competitive clubs and stadiums that respect him."
Vinicius signed a new contract with "Los Blancos" in the summer until 2032.
Question marks remain about Real's ability to field its attacking stars Vinicius, Frenchman Kylian Mbappe, and Englishman Jude Bellingham together without lacking balance.
Mourinho continued, "Because he loves Real Madrid, loves the club and the city, and because he believes that things can always improve, he renewed and he continues to smile."
He added, "No one can... well, they can influence him negatively, yes, because he is human... but to take away his joy of life, work, and living with his teammates, no, no one can do that."
The new-old coach of the "Merengue" substituted Vinicius during the 4-3 Champions League win over Italy's Roma on Wednesday, as the winger continues to struggle to regain the form that helped him win the competition twice under Italian Carlo Ancelotti.
Mourinho said he was happy that Vinicius's suspension was limited to four matches, considering that some hidden figures in the Spanish Football Federation's disciplinary committee "would have given him (punished him with) one or two extra matches."
"There are limits"
Real Madrid faces Sevilla on Sunday (today), hoping not to fall further behind league leaders Barcelona, who were guests of Real Betis yesterday.
Barcelona, led by German Hansi Flick, has won all its matches this season and is six points ahead of fourth-placed Real Madrid.
Real and Mourinho have held referees responsible for some of their results, including the 1-2 derby loss to Atletico Madrid in September.
Real Madrid demanded on Friday that La Liga president Javier Tebas resign, after he compared the club's efforts to discredit referees to the methods of Nazi propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels.
Tebas later tried to clarify that he was comparing it to "those propaganda methods" and not the Nazi ideology.
Mourinho said, "I don't want to talk about this, there are limits and other limits. One cannot be excused unless it is a medical condition, otherwise there is no excuse."
He added, "I don't want to go down that road. Real Madrid and its fans know what they are facing."
He continued, "For the sake of the reputation that the league enjoys abroad, and because it is currently the world champion (the national team), it is better that we try to keep this here, and not let it go out (to the world)."
